I agree that you should only world-build when it's relevant to your story, and don't just drop lore for the sake of dropping lore. If there is no context for why the reader should care about the info, they will not care.
When you're done updating an episode, you can specify whether or not you want your subscribers to be notified about your edit. If they do get notified, you may receive some new views on that episode.

Depending on your execution, I think there may be an audience here for your story, but it might be small.
