Eh, there's still a difference between not being able to crack down on harmful behavior as much as you want and showing time and again that you simply don't care enough.
Since I joined Wattpad, and that wasn't even too long ago, I've recognized a dissonance between what the team and ambassadors TELL US they are doingâand what they are actually SHOWING us. Which is the cold shoulder when shit hits the fan. Not to mention an ambassador being kicked out quite recently after she criticized Paid Stories for having a story (or stories) in it that emphasized stereotypes against the Irish. I don't know if her critique was the reason for that, mind, but the timing was conspicuous, to say the least. And that's just one case of very weird telling/showing-discrepancy.
It could still all be miscommunication. Or them not having enough people. Or other reasons we don't know about. But if you keep your community in the dark about these things, you risk people feeling unwelcome, shunned, silenced. Transparency is key, and Wattpad fails on that front. If I feel the same there as I felt in the last highly toxic/abusive community I frequented, something is very, very wrong.
I'm really much happier here already.
