I have come across one Were story here that is pretty awesome and has new intriguing rules for female and male weres:
Weird rules on WereWolf stories I have seen on Wattpad:
Alpha are almost always men
Female Alphas are called 'Lunas' and never are they considered the same level of 'Alpha's. There is a lot of handwringing on the role of Alphs and Lunas and pretty much it's the same Sphere of Domesticity stuff I have heard before. Which is fine when it takes place in the 1950s and earlier, but when it's suppose to be MODERN DAY?! I'm calling BS.
Romantic 'Love at First Sight' being ordained by the moon and known as finding the one true Mate. Very little discussion on the possibility of divorce or loss and the repercussions. They are bond by the MOON. The moon says so!
There is definitely Beta, Omega, etc roles. Which yeah, these are technically wolves. Yet again, how am I gonna believe a pack is technological advance and well aware of human interactions and customs that are Euro-centric, and yet it is completely OKAY for the other people in the pack to absolutely treat the Omega like crap. Really?!
These are some of the more common rules I see. There are a lot of good Were-romances that subvert these rules and/or introduce other were-animals groupings that have very different social conventions. However these are sadly not the more popular ones
