How much stuff do you cram in your suitcase before a trip?

Do you take way too much stuff or just the necessary?

Having just come back from a convention, I definitely like stuffing one backpack to the max for 2 weeks, but because most of my travel now is for conventions so I have to go around with two massive heavy suitcases for a weekend 🥲 I need to work out more to be able to carry them easier.

I travel light. Already have a relatively minimalist lifestyle (compared to most people. Compared to a monk im a hoarder )

I always pack the night before and a double check in the morning. I don't like having a luggage taking up space before its time to go

I don't think I've ever traveled lightly. I always have a luggage and medium purse, but no more than that. I tend to pack more tops than bottoms as bottoms stay cleaner longer. Depending on the weather, I might need hoodies or fans.
I'm also paranoid about having backups, so I always have at least one extra shirt, towel, or shoes; something that can't be easily replaced when I'm out of town.

I have a checklist of everything I need to pack that fits a small suitcase. Basically just clothes and toiletries, maybe electronics depending of where I'm going/how long. If it's a roadtrip, I'll take the bigger suitcase and be more careless, but if I'm going on a plane, to make the trip as easy as possible, I need to pack light.

last trip i took was to the beach for an entire day.

I wore my bathing shorts underneath my travel clothes so that saved me from packing a bunch of bathing stuff. one bathing shorts. done.

Other stuff i carried was food that we bought from different food places. done.

Since I was an EFL peddler my trips were usually been years long affairs.

But I really HATE flying so I stuck with one suitcase with a week's worth of clothing, and my camera bag. Anything else I couldn't get get locally I had sent later. Winter clothes for example. But as the world globalized and internet shopping became the norm, even that wasn't necessary.

Short trips, like a weekend in Tokyo? That was a travel backpack with locks on the zippers.

Sadly my adventuring days are behind me and my only trips now are to the grocery store.

Everything I need on my work trips fits into my laptop bag, without the laptop, which I carry under my arm.
Just carry-on, no check-ins, travelling's a breeze.
