How much time have you spent planning your series?

So I've looked at the blurb of Karana and it looks pretty interesting. I'll try reading the first few chapters and I'll see where that gets me.

Also, you mentioned translating. Did you write it in a different language originally? If yes, what language? No need to answer if you don't feel like it, I'm just curious about meeting people from various countries

3 years, and still, I didn't published it, and I'm working on it.

It's sometimes really hard to spot a mistake. Especially if you've spent a lot of time on it and then you just gloss over stuff with potential mistakes, thinking that there couldn't possibly be a mistake there. I do that all the time.

But I help a lot of people with editing their stuff and there I notice all the mistakes right of the bat. It must be some kind of a personal bias to myself or don't know how I would explain it...

I do have two people going over it before I publish anything.
My native isn't English so they pick up a lot of things. Which I'm very gratefull for.

But the writing process is indeed very frustrating.
That's why I decided to leave book 1 alone for a few months after finishing. Want to look over it with fresh eyes in a while.

I love writing, but at the same time I hate it when I can't get my thoughts down on paper in a meaningful way.

What's your native language, if you don't mind me asking? I'm also not a native speaker so I'm curious to know where writers on here are from.

Thank you very much! I personally like English a lot more than Slovak. I feel like Slovak is very limited and less versatile than English so I rather write in English.

Dutch is alright, but there are so many grammar rules, that I just make so many mistakes in it.... well It would be very poorly written in my own language xD

Slovak is exactly the same!! I can relate to this on a different level I just hate Slovak grammar.

I never showed anybody my first draft. I had a minor following on my second, and I actually went the web serial route on the third. I gave up writing in between, so it's not like I was consistently writing away pages and pages of revisions.

But I also wrote a lot of other stories, this world and their characters needed a better writer. I wasn't that at the time. And I think with each step, word and paragraph, I've worked towards maturing to that goal. After finishing Book 1 of my third rewrite, I decided to take a break and go back to editing it. But instead of editing it, I turned it over its head. I found Tapas, a new place, a fresh audience, no bias. And I decided to stake the rewrite on my gut. This is the happiest I've felt writing the story because no matter where it's headed, I've never felt more right and at home!

Oh, and I do hope you enjoy my work. I plan on checking yours out as soon as I have a laptop in front of me. Just can't read much on the phone. Pfft. XD
