I had the rough plot idea for my latest novel, Devil's Triangle, since 2017/8 I think? At that time, I only spent one hour to write the bare-bones plot down.
It was only around August 2019 that I went full-force into expanding the idea into a novel-length plot. I spent around 2 months to finalize the theme and message I wanted to bring across, the character cast (backstory, appearance, personality, role), and a rough outline of 8-9 chapters.
I only started publishing it on Tapas in May (this year) and by then, I had already written 7 chapters (which translates to 20+ episodes on Tapas or so).
I took a break from writing it recently so that I could plan out the details for the remaining chapters. It was getting to the point that I needed to iron out the exact clues that I needed to sprinkle in the earlier chapters and I wanted to be sure about the details of the murders and investigation!
