I own a comic named Understanding Nothing6, and i'm curious about ow often i should update it. My comic isn't plot based, and is one of those comics attempting to make you laugh. Currently i update once a week (Wednesdays). I have a scheduled Hiatus going on (Ending next week), and post a full week of comics after that which i have dubbed a "Comixplosion". Im curious about how much i should update to keep my readers satisfied, while still maintaining enough free time to keep my comic as a fun hobby. Any ideas?

Well I believe the bigger question is: How often can you afford to post?

If you can only manage to complete an episode a week, stick with once a week.
If you have 200 eps worth of buffer, you can afford to post more than that.

Personally I'm not a fan of comics that go once a week and then all of a sudden do once a day for so many days. I'd rather they just stay once a week to stay consistent.

The "Comixplosion" is an occasional thing. I understand, though, because everyone has their tastes in what they like and i respect that.

Do what works for you, we all work at different rates depending on other stuff in our lives and our capabilities. I'm a workaholic with ADHD so I update one comic daily and two others 5 times a week, but that schedule wouldn't work for someone who DOESN'T have ADHD and workaholicism blush
Your schedule and methods aren't gonna work for someone who isn't you, and someone who ain't you's schedule isn't gonna work for you.

Honestly I don't think you should think about what works for your readers, but what works for you. If you want it as a hobby, then take that into account when making your schedule, and don't think if your readers will follow. If they like what you do they will.

I don't post more than a page every other week, because that's what works for me, and fits my schedule, and then my readers will just have to take what they get. Honestly I'm not budging on that point, because if I make more I will just burn myself out and they wont get anything in the long run.

I had to move to every other week in order to stay ahead of myself.
However, This will hopefully allow me to post more than one page an episode, and allow me to maintain a good buffer.

I think it depends heavily on the type of comic. Story heavy ones seem to average once a week, while smaller things tend to update more often.

There are also people who release whole chapters, but that seems a lot less common.
