How Old is Too Old?

I'm 34 and still don't have an ongoing comic up & comic and I see other artists younger artist that have been working on their comics for years.

That's not your age, that's insecurity.

And your age is the excuse to compare yourself to others.

And if you were the same age as those guys, then it would their art skills.

And if you had the same art skills, then it would be because they have posted more, etc.

Don't put the blame on others or on stuff you have no control over, so you can feel sorry for yourself.

Are you exhausted and need rest?

Are you surrounded by a toxic environment?

Do you feel you need some discipline?

Or to learn more art skills?

Or to make a habit out of dedicate an afternoon in the week to draw a page of your comic?

Whatever it is, do something about it. Research on whatever you need to do

I started writing comics in my thirties. Ten years and several books later, I'm still struggling to improve distribution and increase my readership. I'm also willing to bet that most of us here, even the younger people who appear to have it made, also struggle with that.

There are elderly people on youtube doing let's plays and all sorts of things!

I can only assume you are talking about this wonderful woman.

I don't know what too old is, but I do know that 34 is not too old.

My mother is in her 40's and she texts me on Halloween of her costumes! xD So Trick or Treating doesn't have an age...why should comic-making? I think you start making a comic! Just start brainstorming ideas, look at prompts, practice drawing and find an art style that you are comfortable with and enjoy! If you can't draw/write, there are people out there willing to collab (I myself am a collaborator in a story on Wattpad. ;-

The more people I hear of doing things later in their life (i.e. not in their 20s and older) the happier I am. I think it is great to be trying out new things throughout your life. You should never stop, especially not if you have the creative bug. It seems like there is a lot of pressure from society to do amazing things when you're in your 20s, and there's nothing wrong with that! But while you're still living you still have a chance to LIVE and accomplish new things. I'm almost in my 30s and try to always keep that in mind. I don't want to ever feel like being an older age is the "end".

So basically, if you wanna make comics, make comics! And have fun!
