My problem, as I don't draw my own comic, is that I have to pay artists. At some point my comic has to take care of its own feeding or I can't afford to pay for it anymore. I've done 120 pages out of my own pocket (91 of which I've posted). Anything beyond that has to be paid for by readers, whether that be convention sales, ad revenue, supporters, Kickstarter, etc. The next six months or so will really be important, because in April the art I have runs out and I'll need to be buying art for the next story. If the readers step up and support it (even $1 a piece per month would cover it easily) I can keep going. If they don't, I have to pull the plug.
On a happier note, my recent Kickstarter and convention sales have been enough to cover about 6 pages of the next chapter, 20 pages left to fund though.
Hmmm... make comics or feed children... make comics or feed children... That's a tough one...
