I'm 5'6" which people say is too short for a man but I don't really feel that way. I guess it is not really something I feel insecure about.
I'm 5'9 and the 3rd tallest person in my family on both sides. I'm the tallest woman though. General population in my part of Canada is not overly tall and men don't want to date someone taller. Nobody wanted to date the tall girl in school.
