How thin do you usually make your brush for line art?

Just throwing this out there. I know it varies from artist to artist and brush to brush but I guess I'm just curious.

I don't have a fancy tablet and I've grown comfortable using Ibis X paint. I used to use the dip pen hard around the 1.5 thickness but switched to soft dip pen a while ago using it at 2.5 to 2.8 for line art.

Same! I have been using Ibis pant as well, but in Krita i use either 2.0 to 5.0. Depending on what I and doing.

Usually I use the standard g pen tool in CSP set to either 10 or 15 depending on how many details I've crammed into the panel. But I do my lineart on a vector layer, so I can more easily adjust my line weights.

I usually use 2 brushes for my line art(the program- CSP)...the first is what I use to make the majority of my lines- is about at 6, but I think I may need to dial it down a bit because of the tilt pressure feature tends to make the lines a little wider than they need to be at times. The 2nd brush is a lot more controlled- have it at 4, but I mainly use it for smaller detailed linework, as it isn't powerful enough to take on the bulk of the inking linework as the other brush.

I work with CSP using the G-pen (normal, I don't like the real g-pen "bleed" feature) and I work at X3 scale so I set my brush to 15. That makes my average like 3-4 when shrunk for webcomic upload. I don't use very small delicate lines as these might disappear altogether when I resize.

I've never experienced smaller lines vanishing before. I'll take note of this for future reference.

I use a 20px brush for my lineart but my lineart is quite thick.

honestly this depends entirely on what brush i'm using and the canvas size i'm working with (or it's dpi)

Like i work in medibang so for thinner brushes especially ones that taper at the end of a stroke like marker, pen or gpen then i'll keep it to 3 or 4 unless i'm going for a specific varied line style then i can go up to maybe 5 or down to 2 but no more or it can start to look off

For my chunkier brushes like the custom splatoon one i edited or default chunky pencil or pixel brushes then i definitely stay a bit larger with the size set no lower than 3 or 4 otherwise the brush spacing makes things look funky but no higher than 6 for some for essentially the same reason, otherwise i just duplicate the line art layer and flatten it a few times till i get the desired line density

the smallest i've ever gone is definitely 1 or 2 but that's only ever been with the pixel brush i use sometimes (the default and a custom brush i got from somewhere)

for reference the canvas sizes i work with range from 600 * 800px to 940 * 1080 all the way up to 1280 * 1650 but it depends on what i intend on drawing (i.e. it's a sketch/doodle canvas, a wallpaper, icons, comic pages, or different illustrations)

CSP G-pen size 5 and I also tend to put very little pressure when drawing so my lines tend to be quite thin
I also tend to draw comics on A4 canvas and illustrations on B4, both 300 dpi

Before my injury I used to use pretty small brushes (9-10 px) on a 1200px-wide canvas (~0.8%). After my injury I find that it kinds hurts a lot to have to control and apply pressure to a thin brush, so it's been steadily climbing up. OG Engram pages were made with a 20 px brush (~1750 px canvas = ~1.2%), next project I worked on my starting brush size was 35 px (1750 px canvas = ~2.0%) and now I work in Procreate which measures the brush size in %, but it seems to be about 40-50 pixels (same size canvas = ~2.6%) when I look at the pages on my computer. I don't love the way thick lines look so it's not that I'm doing it intentionally for the appearance, but I'm just finding it easier/more satisfying to ink in thick brushes. Keeps me from trying to add too many details and bog my workflow down.

Woah, I always think 2.0 is too small even if the panel size is tiny. But anyway, I use 4.0 for my line art., and rarely 3.0 if I need that small specific thing drawn, haha!

As thin as possible TBH. I've always had a heavy hand so thin nibs/ pen widths/ pencil leads/ brush size are a bit of a must have unless I want it to look like a gorilla drew it.

I like to use CSPEX gpen brush 0.6 seems good fit for my comics. I explore other sizes and brushes depending on certindepending on other certin drawings.

I think I jump between 15 to 35 with the default G-pen. I use a drawing tablet so the lines can get quite small with a bigger brush OR they stay chunky, both ways can work.

Size 12-20px with a pen sensitivity modification. Focusing on beautiful thin lines only accelerated my tendinitis problems, so I've had to embrace thick lineart that doesn't stress my hands as much. That said, CSP's pen sensitivity configuration really helps to still get thin lines where it matters like textures and detail!

That's very real.

I ended up changing my pressure sensitivity to be a lot higher so that I can ink comfortably. That being said, I use a varied lineweight and start around 15px on a 350dpi canvas.

I switched from Medibang Paint to Clip Studio Paint EX some time around 2020, but the default Gpens native to the program weren't toothy enough, so I made a dupe of MDP's for Clip.

For those of us who have repetitive stress injuries (and those who don't) and use tablets, I really recommend upping your pressure sensitivity so you don't have to bear down. Also, if you can, draw with your fingers and arm instead of your wrist whenever possible.

The panels I currently have out use a 5 px constant width brush on a 2160 x 1390px canvas, but I'm veering towards 3 px constant width brush on a 1920 x 1080px canvas for the future
