Hello my dear bunch of community friends!
You know, recently i've been dealing with a comic art professor who started pushing me away from my usual manga style for the comic i still have to bring to his exam (in a few days).
At first it just felt so unpleasant that somebody was trying to make me draw in a style that it wasn't mine, but i want/wanted to at least get an high score with me and so i tried making my characters look less bubbly and more realistic we could say (one day you'll see in the comic, cause i'll publish it all here).
After drawing some pages with this "new" art style i was experimenting i found myself enjoying not pure manga drawing way more than the 100% form with big eyes, small nose and chin....we could say that now i understand why my teacher wanted me to step out from my comfort zone, and NOW i want to spread more!
To be honest i just want to start practising realistic drawing from the basis, and some people suggested me to take life drawing classes, or i don't have one in my zone, to go out and sketch living 3D people moving, well great. The problem is that i'm locked up in my house studying most of the day for the theorical part of my exams, and soon college will start again, so my first question here is:
- Can you still get better with realism by copying photos if you don't have many chances to draw from real life?
If someone replies with a no, i'll probably fall into dispare XD (joking)
Other questions....are not exactly questions, just wanted to know if any of you is studying anatomy and figure drawing just as me, trying to practise realistic drawing, and if it's not, i hope you might know a few tips to improve realistic drawing or generally improve drawing from the basis of it
I hope i didn't leave anything behind, i just wanna get away from manga art style for a while and then maybe implementing new stuff that i learned from my exercises in there!
Thank you in advance for the amazing answers!
