I KNOW they weren't trying to be rude. It's just my whole issue is that I'm slow AF. That's like looking at someone who complains about having anorexia and saying I'm afraid to eat and then someone coming up and saying, oho well I eat A LOT and I never gain weight! That's not gonna make them feel any better.
I can't keep up with a basic production. Another thing I have failed to mention is if I follow my current schedule, it'll take me 42 YEARS to make this comic at one page a week... I have already shortened the comic as small as I can. I need to get faster and I'm not sacrificing quality. I don't have anyone I trust to be a penciler for me since my script isn't in a screenplay format, plus I don't think I would trust anyone with it. If I could get myself enough money each month to not have to freelance, I could probably kick it up to 2 or 3 pages a week.
I have a light box and I've had it for many years. I already do roughs and layouts. I actually do them one chapter at a time. I don't even make them big, they just take time to make. I spend one day a month doing all my roughs that way I won't have to make them every single week.
I don't use photoblues because I use the pencil roughs in my inking process since I do the roughs and inks on the same page, i keep some of the lines. I don't like roughing digitally. I did that the first time around for the first 16 pages and hated it because I don't have a large enough printer. So I was having to split the pages into half, tape them to the lightbox, line them up and then ink over it, and I frankly just didn't like the feel of that process. I was an animation student, so I'm quite familiar with lightboxing things. It's just not a method I like. The issues I have is that some pages just take a LONG time to ink. For example, here is the latest one.
I didn't bother penciling every single vine since I knew they'd be random. I didn't pencil ever detail in the palm tree in the 3rd panel, but I inked it. I also don't like working digitally, so a lot of the textures most people do digitally, I do traditionally. Don't get me wrong, I CAN work digitally and I have for 6 years, I just don't like to. I'm actually slower when I work digitally inking as silly as it may sound. I've timed myself a few times before.
I don't really know how I could make my inking process faster since I don't do much penciling. It'd be the tones I do faster. I already recycle the skies if I can. I have color swatches predetermined for characters and do shading with the roughs so I know how I'll be shading. To be honest it is the inking process that takes the longest and I don't want to sacrifice detail and quality for time. This bottom one is the most resent cover. The fills and splatter didn't take long at all, but all that smoke and writing did. Since it is a custom alphabet, I don't have a font for it. So I had to do it by hand.

While I like the idea of hanging out with other artists, I don't know anything about Youtube, how it works or how drawing things work. I cant' stream since my internet it so bad, would I even be able to participate in something like a group drawing session.
@heterodont
I used to have a buffer, but I lost it all being unable to draw some weeks. I had a 8-12 page buffer when I started and I lost it all since I started beginning to post pages in March.
Not really. I don't have anyone online I would consider close enough to dump on like that.
