Not exactly comics, but I've done a lot of sketchnotes in the past for Pursuit Podcast (along with others done by Shazleen Khan, creator of Buuza! here on Tapas): https://twitter.com/PursuitPod/media?lang=en
Generally I find that adding fun little visual flourishes, using the images to help people absorb the information and generally just having fun with it helps.
In a comic, you have the advantage that you can have the information coming from the point of view of and being written in the tone of voice of the characters. In my sketchnotes for Pursuit, I kind of filled that role myself, where the notes where in the "character voice" is the voice of me, the artist, so it was adding this unique extra layer of commentary on the content of the episode. Not just summarising it, but trying to concentrate it down and add fun and entertaining little bits that come from my sense of humour.
Whether it's me literally appearing in the note to lampshade that I'm also from the North of England or weighing in with some microphone suggestions...
Or adding in a joke riffing on something mentioned in the episode about how developers taking on the task of animation with no knowledge of the field can have horrible consquences: "NIGHT OF THE ANIMATING DEVS":
