How you found your favorite webcomic

I think it would be very helpful for creators on this site to know the different ways that readers are finding out about different webcomics. It would be great help for everyone to know how they can get other people interested enough to actually read their comic.

I actually found out about my current favorite series, The Boy Who Fell by Starfleetrambo, through their fanarts of gravity falls. How about you? How did you find your favorite webcomic?

3-4 years ago I had a desire to learn "How To Make Manga". So, I googled that and came across a Youtube Channel called "How To BAM". In "How To Bam" there was an artist called Odunze (Whyt Manga). Odunze comes from Nigeria, Africa and he's skilled in drawing manga. Seeing his level of skill and success inspired me to learn and put more of my attention on my passion for my comic/manga, Osca

To answer the question, I don't have a "favorite webcomic". But, Odunze's Apple Black webcomic series moved me immensely and I enjoyed it! When I see Odunze in real life, I will give him a bro hug. Haha!

Sorry in advanced, my response isn't going to be very helpful or informative.
Being on the main page, icon art and genre.

On webtoons I follow 16 webcomics and I primarily like romance and fantasy. Nine of them feature both a girl and a guy on the icon, one has a girl with hands coming in, four of the remaining ones I found because the app shoved them into my face and two of them I picked because the art looked interesting. My three favorites, only one has a couple on it, two have interesting art styles and all three were shoved in my face by the app.

ive found like all my favourite comics through the forums; i trawl a lot of recommendation / undiscovered comics threads, and respond to a lot of asks for feedback. the latter are good bc you have to pay attention to the comic and read past your first impression.

I like Fantasy Romance, too, so that's how I also found my favorite comic on here. The cover art has a girl and guy on it, and the artwork just captured my attention.

I feel luring readers in for webcomics is the same as books; you need to have a good cover that shows something about the story.

I ask for recommendations, or sometimes I find them through other websites like Reddit, other times it's through pure luck by searching through the fresh section on Tapas

I think I was searching randomly for comics and I found NiceToMeetYou (My favorite on Tapastic)

The name caught my attention and so did the artwork of Wishroom. That's what catches my attention with most things. The name has to be interesting and the art engrossing. Now, I didn't say you have to be a professional artist to catch my eye but it has to have a story behind it.

I found my favourite webcomics through Tapastic forums.

Through browsing the Fresh section actually. I check it at odd times of the day just to see what's uploaded, and I pick the ones with interesting thumbnails to look into. I've found some really neat series this way.

I also search through the Fresh section. I actually stopped looking at the "Popular" section because the stories are always the same.

A lot of my favorite comics on tapastic are made by people I've met here on the forums, and then occasionally other artists who have subscribed to my comic (I make a point to check out the profiles of everyone who subscribes), also if I see anything that catches my eye in fresh/trending/popular while I'm checking where my comic is at on those pages I'll usually give it a looksie. I've been finding a lot of great horror comics lately as a result of that last thing.

I've found that if you look in the trending/popular tabs for specific genres you get a much more diverse selection, especially in more niche genres like Sci-fi and Horror.

I do that for certain genres. I'm always looking for new Fantasy stories to read, so I usually look at that "Fresh" section. On the novel side, there aren't many options for new stories right now. I'm sure as Tapas gets more users that write, the amount of stories will go up.

Mostly through the popular and trending sections, it's how I found Strays and Please Be Merciful, two of the absolute best comics I'd seen on this website. I also found most of the comics I read and enjoyed through those two sections, but I've also lately gone digging through the comics section; bookmarking and reading anything sounding even remotely interesting.

I find mine mainly through manga sites or when I scroll through other artist Tumblrs/Twitters.

Makes sense, I haven't read any novels here yet, I'm a lot more picky/less interested in them than I am with comics. That said, I hope your readerbase grows allong with tapas's as the Novel section becomes more established!

This was maybe off topic, but I see you post a lot here with your concerns about growing an audience and I wanted to offer a bit of support I guess?

It's okay! You don't come off that way at all, your lack of readers is probably because of the novels being new, and comic people not liking books (that's why we make comics). Probably has nothing to do with the quality of your work. Even the big fish are having trouble right now.
