I have been contacted by Dreame. Are they a scam?

A publishing company that I have never heard of before, Dreame, has contacted me. Are they a scam? Has anyone else heard of them?

Just looked them up and the second listing was a writer beware group on facebook and the third was a blog post discussing whether or not they're a scam. So there's that. But I'm often wary of companies that contact random authors on online platforms. They are not all scams, but make sure you read any contracts they offer carefully to see what rights you retain and how they plan to split profits from your book.

Most of the time, it's probably a scam.

Dreame Site Spam

I'm getting comments from Dreame, notorious scam company, (another link) advertising a new story contest they have.

Obviously this isn't a REAL contest; it's just there to dupe unsuspecting or inexperienced authors into signing the rights away to their books. But even more than that NovelStar spamming from early in the year, this one is super dangerous because they are promising actual money here. So, I don't know how Tapas staff deals with comment moderation or any of that, but I would highly suggest setting up a spam filter for "Dreame" and maybe "D r e a m e" and "Dr34m3" or whatever, because I have a feeling this spam is going to get bad in the coming weeks. And if you see any authors who might not know about Dreame getting contacted by them, definitely let them know.

This must be the third topic about Dreame in a single week.

Legitimate publishers are not headhunting talent on free-to-publish sites like Tapas.

Which is sad! Certain indie publishers actually do seek out web novels on Royal Road if they reach a certain popularity threshold, but I haven't heard of that happening on here.

what were the CIRCUMSTANCES they contacted you? Those comments about contests are way different than a serious email or a message in their platform.

Just block them. I have been victim of these spams since the start of 2020. They just keep coming back with different accounts with different names and descriptions. I'm pretty sure these trolls are all just one person with no life.

check out the email address. (@.......com). I got one from Ringdom that is an allied company with Dreame, although Dreame is more towards the female side. And I talked with them, and I got an exclusive contract. Although I chose the non-exclusive one and yeah, it's legit.

Also, I haven't signed since I will sign it once I complete my novel and then directly publish it there without any wait.
So some are scam, some are not. Check their email address which will give you a basic idea. I had @ringdomstory.com , maybe you will have something like @dreame....com. So chat with them and check it for yourself
