Finally, after dithering and debating and fretting for many moons... I have new cover art! I have been meaning to do this ever since I started posting Volume II of Big Dead Energy, but I'm both picky and frequently broke. I absolutely adore my old cover art by Crypt Rogue, but it was time for a change.

My new cover art is by fellow Tapas writer and artist Alyssa! Find her @alydaebooks on Instagram and https://tapas.io/alydae2 on Tapas!

Anyway, show me your cover evolutions! Did you change covers halfway through? Or do you just have multiple novels with multiple covers? Let's see what you've got!

And don't forget to drop your link, of course:

Whoa, I love all of these! It's so cool to see the changes in the art styles for those of you who draw your own covers. Makes me wish I had kept up with art after high school...

Congrats on the new cover! :heart_02:

"Of Lowlifes, Lutes, & Liars" hasn't gone through a cover upgrade, but my skills have improved since I drew the cover for "Apparent Secrets," so I hope that counts:

First Novel Cover:

Second Novel Cover:

Oh, I like the new one! The looks exchanged between the characters is a nice touch!

I'm always changing my covers up, here's my original one for Antemortem. It was rushed since I was hustling to enter the AF contest.

And here's the new one I took my time with.

The Diaries of Viscount Mousehole (1809-1810)

The first cover was made some time in 2022 when it was released (but this cover was the earliest cover to find in my files)

This one was made in 2023 where I have to change the genre from Mystery to Thriller/Horror. This cover is temporarily used as a cover for The Viscount and The Playwright before the first episode released.

The Viscount and the Playwright

This cover was actually inspired by 18th to early 19th century engraved illustrations and some nostalgic yet simple book covers, yet it features a letter with a book (possibly a diary), and quill and ink, perhaps a code within the lines.

@skidiggy I had no idea you drew your covers yourself! They look so professional!

@vapidink If that first one is you rushing, consider me impressed. I love the color scheme, the name, the bonesss

@heyroxi What’s a paid art subs? I think what you ended up drawing on your own looks amazing!

@MickC I like that you’ve really switched up the style a lot each time. The current cover does look very classic, like something you’d pull out of the deep stacks in a library.

@king-goldfish Both your covers give such different vibes, I'm really intrigued to check your story out!

My first proper cover was a little rushed, since the end of my first chapter fell on top of a REALLY busy time for me and I wanted a visual element to let folks know updates would slow down for a bit.
The second one had a bit more breathing room, and I figured I should try to focus a bit closer on teasing things that'll happen in chapter 2.

@king-goldfish Always enjoyed the old cover for that ancient painterly feeling and ornate borders,
and the new cover looks awesome too, has a fresh look with the toon style and with the two boys, it quickly sells the BL element of your story too  :camera_with_flash: :art:

On Tapas TG for them allowing us to use Gif cover so for now this one remains:

But on Voyceme, because they did'nt allow gif covers, I tried to make a new one to capture the various elements of the Tapas' Gif one above: " Evan making a spit sword and the infected humans popping up at the end".
Nop, not halfway through XD , recently started posting on voyceme and the cover below evolved within a short span (like about a month lol)

Attempt 1
-Has his current look (a pig ate his pants), but felt like it said nothing substantial about series-

Attempt 2
-Tried t make it more action-y, tried to use yellow to make it fit with the various bright anime-ish covers there, but thought it lost the initial tone :joy:

Current version (attempt 3)
-Finally decided to capture the elements of the Tapas gif cover. Felt the white was easier on the eyes too. He switches to this strawberry boxers in the coming episodes so felt maybe it was more fitting to include it :joy:

Thank you! I just didn't have time to make the linework and rendering as neat, lol. But I had fun redrawing it so it worked out!

@elideeart You might think it's rushed, but I really like the sense of motion in the first cover! Cool ship, too.

@stiatent Thank you! I love the old cover but figured I needed to sell the BL angle more for sure.

I really need to catch up to get the "pig ate my pants" part of the comic! lmao. I do love the Tapas gif cover but there's actually something cool in all the voyceme variants you tried out. Your style is still one of the most unique I've seen!

Oh, I meant a paid app. Thank you! It's been so long since I’ve done digital art, so it took a lot of effort to create this. It gave me a strong sense of nostalgia, making me want to improve myself again whenever I have free time.
