I'm not sure I understand why this comic is going into Calliope magazine. Shouldn't a personal comic be a separate thing from the community mag? Just my opinion, I guess if your readers are fine with it, it's fine.
But aside from that, yes, I've made one of these before on the mspa (Homestuck) forums, which means that it has been sadly lost to time. Homestuck of course started out as one of these, and its precursor, Problem Sleuth, was one from start to finish. I'd also recommend checking out Ruby Quest, which is a classic one.
Things to look out for: Sometimes you have to have stuff happen outside of reader suggestions or they'll just meander around forever. Also you need to do a lot of background planning so the readers can really feel like they're exploring a detailed world and getting to the bottom of an interesting and surprising mystery.
