Ad revenue is not the only way to make money with your webcomic. As other have said, Patreon is a good way to get additional revenue while providing extra content for your subscribers. Several other ways would be to do commissions, and/or print your comic and sell it at conventions, which the latter is something I am planning to do this year, hopefully.

But please, don't give up! I know how disheartening it is to see something like that, but with time and perserverance, you'll find a way.

Gotta keep at the grind. Some days I don't make anything because of my comic Life of an Aspie infrequent almost sporadic updates, but in the past few months, I've made close to 80 cents in ad revenue. Sooooo close to having a dollars worth in ad revenue

Wow, well I have to thank this thread because, before this thread existed I didn't even know it was possible to make any ad revenue on Tapastic, you guys actually made me look at the "Ad" section of my dashboard. Wow what a dummy huh? Well I just activated it so watch out world! Maybe.

yes, i am liking the site so far, and i have been lurking for a while now, but after just waiting around i think i need to speak up. here are some of the things i have found that i would like to see improved upon or changed.

1) why is there no ability to sort comics by length of content? i want a comic that will take me longer than 2 minutes to read and i can never find one.
2) the read next at the bottom of the pages is always filled with the just posted, one page only stuff. please give us some variety or a comics like instead of whatever has no content but the sites algorithms want to promote.
3) we need a complete tag because i hate seeing stories that have just 3 pages and then are done forever. when combined with the longest running sorting, people like me should be able to avoid those types of stories.

sorry for the cranky ness of this but i do hate how every comic i come across on here has only one or two pages then stops or is brand new.

also just an idea for those on here speaking up about ad revenue and other ways to monetize,
geek apparel is actually a big thing. shirts, coffee mugs, key chains, buttons, pins, and so many other cheap-to-slap-a-logo-on items are hot sellers on personal websites that you can put up your own ads on your page for. comics like misfile or questionable content with long repertoires make pretty good off of it or so we the fans are lead to believe. plus the original items you get can normally be pretty cheap. a box of pens can be bought in bulk for less than 10 dollars and you can make easily 3 or 4 dollars off each one once you have a logo on there.

I'm 100% agree!. money and art basically very very far from each other.
as an artist I dont really care about money, but it always nice to be accepted, during your life time... not like... u know... it happened lol

and if someone want to sue you, they should sue us both lool

This is something I would like to see REALLY bad, I think I may have even mentioned something like this before. I am not a fan at all of getting recommended stuff that's only three or so pages, or half a chapter, or even more criminal, recommended stuff to 'read' that's only a title page =_=... worse yet is the ratio of webcomics that die to ones that struggle on. I am not interesting in series that will probably not make it past it's first two or three chapters (if even that) due to the creator losing interest.

ikr. i have bookmarked so many comics for later as the art looked okay but they had nothing but one or two pages only to come back a few weeks later to find that it is no longer on the site.

I totally get what you mean xD! I don't even regularly check how much money i've made from the ad program, since money isn't exactly my ultimate goal for doing comics in the first place. I feel like the interactions i've made with many people here so far as the awesome fan base since starting my comic is worth more than gold in my opinion!

I don't have a views account, only I'm new to this site and I don't get many views or subs. However, I understand the feeling of looking to see if you gained any money. like everyone said I think if you keep at it, updating and sharing your stuff with everyone, you'll get more money. it takes time. and I'm sure with persistence you'll make more!

but even so what ever you do, don't give up on your art, it's a hard think to keep at when you feel down. and I've seen a lot of people quite drawing because they feel like no one cares about there stuff, I think you should draw and write because it's something you love to do. I dropped out for 3 years due to emotional stress, but I didn't give up. I doodled even if I stopped posting, but I came back to it once I was feeling better. it may a take bit, just don't give up. Good things are bound to come.
