I would love for you guys to check out my comics and give some feedback!

I recently started making my web-comic series, Marsh-Mellow, just about a month ago. Although i'm not a spectacular artist, I spent so much time doodling on all of my papers in school, and decided I would try to put that sporadic inspiration skill to good use. After posting 7 comics that I'd like to believe are of pretty good quality, I noticed a pattern in followers. I seemed to get a lot right off the bat, but then it just kind of stopped. I don't expect to get very many, as I haven't been posting for long and don't have very many posts, but i was still curious as to how I could make my comic more appealing to people and increase my amount of followers. I was hoping that all of you wonderful people out here that are taking the time to read this paragraph right now would be willing to head over to my comics, give some of them a read, and then just pop back over here and comment with your feedback. I'm not asking you guys to follow me (although it's not like that is something I'm against), just check my stuff out and tell me what you think.

Hey I'm new on here so I can't really offer much advice on how to gain popularity but I feel like it's probably just a challenge to get noticed because of the high volume of stuff on here. I did check out your comic and really enjoyed it. I like how they are all simple and to the point and very relatable. I subscribed and I hope to see more

You're welcome. Yeah I guess it's just a matter of waiting it out and eventually gaining a following. I think the more you put yourself out there like this the better your chances are.

Some quick comics about random stuff that's probably not even funny. Hopefully it'll get better over time. Hopefully.

Introducing your work as "probably not even funny" is an immediate turn-off! The strips I read are cute and made me smile (the "when I see other people's art" one legitimately made me laugh, the expressions you draw are great), but if I were just browsing through comics, and clicked on yours and then saw that description, I wouldn't have stayed long enough to find out that they were funny. I'd click away without bothering to read any of the comics at all. Or maybe I'd look at one strip, and if it wasn't my thing, I wouldn't try another one -- because you've already told potential readers that your comic is "probably not funny," they'll be ready for that to be true.

I know it's tempting to put down your work before other people get the chance (it took me a lot of work to break that habit myself), but that's really gonna hurt you in the long run. There are other ways to introduce your work as kinda silly and idiosyncratic -- "random things that are funny to me" is the first one that comes to my mind, but there are probably plenty of other ways to word it -- that don't sound like you're apologising for it.

I don't know much about "getting follower" but when it comes to your comic, the thing that is a "turn off" for me are the weird panels. They just look rushed and sloppy. Maybe try making them more cleaner looking and more square?

Doing the squares more "clean" looking might help for the artistic part, I do like the expressions you draw so be sure to keep on with that!!

As for the followers things I thinks people what people value a lot is continuity(an update per week or more maybe?). The comics you see with only 3 episodes or so are the ones who get featured by the staff's choice and then they get the sudden rise on followers, so don't worry about that.
Put your effort in doing a little bit better every drawing and more people will come. Also social networks are super important, like having a twitter, facebook or on reddit. You will get more people to see your work

Still, the most important thing is that you remember to not value your work for the quantity of followers. I believe that if I can make someone feel something with my art, it's already doing it's job. Of course! Having more people feeling something about your work! But everyone starts with small victories!!
Just remember! Put a bit more of work in every new piece and patience! A month is nothing! Wish you the best of lucks and keep in your heart the true joy of drawing! Don't let anything or anyone take that away from you!

I'll work on that! I did already finish a comic for tomorrow, so that won't be affected by this, but from now on, I'll try to clean up the squares! What would you recommend I do? Make them sharper, or straighter, or both, or neither?

That depends on what you like more
It could be squares with rounded lines to give a softer look or do common squares, the one that matches your style better.
Guess getting them straighter might be better also! ( but still, pls do choose that by you own eye as the artist! I wouldn't dare to say: "This will definitely work"!!! . So takes this as just an opinion :3 )

Good start! Part of what draws people into a comic is the art, so I would work on that (since your jokes are already solid). Some artists spend hours upon hours on each update. You mentioned Brutally Honest, and each of those episodes probably take a while to get looking just right. Learn what makes a drawing appealing, practice, and spend time on each comic you draw.

Will do! I have personally noticed that my drawings have been getting better when I put more time into them. Also, in Followers , I went over another, lower layer of pencil lines first, and I feel like this comic may have my best art so far.
