I wasn’t able to read the full story yet, but I really enjoyed the summary. The concept is interesting, especially the idea of recurring Scourges that reshape the world every few centuries. It creates a strong sense of history and tension right from the beginning.
I also liked the slow buildup of unease through Jack’s perspective—the strange silence in the forest, the disappearances, and the feeling that something is wrong before anyone fully understands it. The philosophical conversation with Justin is another highlight because it adds a deeper layer about morality and whether humans can truly judge good and evil.
The twist at the end—that the monster they defeated was only a decoy and the real Scourge is still hidden—works very well. It leaves the reader with a strong sense of dread and curiosity about what will happen next.
Overall, the summary does a great job establishing the world, the characters, and the central mystery. It definitely made me interested in the story.
Also, if you ever need help with proofreading or light editing, feel free to reach out. I mainly focus on grammar, spelling, and line editing for fantasy and sci-fi web novels. I’m happy to edit the first 10 chapters for free, and after that I usually charge around $5–$10 for every two chapters.
