If I wanted someone to draw a character for me, what would be a fair price for just one colored OC?

Each country may have very different circumstances.

Also, whether the character you need is just a simple text description of a concept, or has more detailed descriptions, or even has your own drawn illustrations, will greatly affect the price.

In addition, the size of the image and the purpose (commercial or non-commercial use) will also affect the price.

I suggest you briefly explain your requirements first, so that others can more easily answer you.

It depends. do you want it fully rendered or just flat colors? Do you want a full body drawing or just a face, half body, etc. Everyone charges different rates. The style the piece is being drawn in would also probably have an effect on it. if you want a hyper-realistic drawing it would cost more than a cartoony drawing.

As others point out, the price differs wildly depending on what you want and the quality of the art. If you're looking to commission, see if the artist you like has their commissions open and look at what they charge. You can also typically ask them about it if there's no information on their page about commissions.

If you're looking to charge for your own art, check what the people at your skill level charge. Take the lower end of what they charge and up your prices as you start to receive commissions, build an audience, get better, etc.

Like everyone else said it varies depending on the level of detail you'd want but my teams lowest price is usually between $60-80

It depends on how you want it done and if it is only the face, half body or full body. The basic price begins from $60 to $100 and it can go upto &450 to &500 based on your requested requirements.

Maybe these are U.S./Europe prices? I've seen people charge way less, especially people who are just starting doing commissions

As others have said, it really depends on things like:

• artstyle
• artist's country of residence
• if the artist is a professionnal or an amateur
• the type of drawing you want (portrait/halfbody/fullbody/with or without background)
• how fast you want the drawing, some artists have rush fees
• what you want to use it for, some artists charge commercial licence fees (those some being all the pros)
• if you want it to be digital or physical (physical will incur the cost of the materials used)

For example, art is my job, and I live in Europe. Cost of living and minimum wage is higher than another country like say the Phillipines, but cost of living is lower than in most of the US, so base price will be between those countries. I pay taxes and social security on my art, around 33%, that ups the price because I still need rent after taxes. My style is pretty labour intensive with full colour rendering in a painterly style, that takes longer than say a sketch with flat colours, that ups the price.
