If someone else made your comic

Let's say you didn't make your comic. You'd never even thought of it. Someone else has made it (or is making it), and you just came across it.

Would you read it?
What would be the first hook that grabs your attention, writing-wise?
What would be your favorite thing about it?
What would be your least favorite aspect?

In other words, if there was someone out there with the same exact tastes as yours, would they read your comic, and what would they like about it?

It would be really weird if someone else made my comic (or upcoming), but I'd probably read it.
I'd be grudgingly hooked by the cheesy humor coming from a dark looking character and that would be my favorite thing about it too.
Hm... I'm not sure what my least favorite aspect would be... maybe the paneling or lack thereof?

If someone else made Singmire Haze I would probably be entertained by the humorous storyline composition, with those flashbacks and stuff, while also a little irked by it because I would certainly detect how the author is sadistically chuckling over it sometimes. But that wouldn't be an actual frustration, I guess. I would probably think the story could be a tad more structured, but would appreciate how each page really draws the action foreward or explores the themes.

I would love the actual gender equality in the society where the action takes place, and how neither gender nor sexual orientations are even considered as something to discriminate people. I'd probably be a little unsecure sometimes if I can't identify a character's gender quickly, because most of them are quite androgynous, but that's because I don't want to refer to them with wrong pronouns^^ (fortunately it's not so hard to figure when being a bit careful at reading dialogues).

Mostly I think I would like to have a story set in a very different world with a different culture, but exploring issues to which we can really relate to in matter of society. Oh. And I would love that for once the rebels aren't trying to make use of force/violence to change society for the better =)

I would read it. I just don't think it would work as well if anyone else did it though. Our 2 leads are inadvertently my husband and I so if someone else did it I think it would lose part of what makes people like it.

I'd probably enjoy the hell out of it, takes place in the afterlife, has demon fight scenes like devil may cry, intense action, has gore, lots of character development, my kind of humor (I have a messed up sense of humor) the only things that might bother me could be the dialogue. Writing dialogue has always been a challenge for me and if someone thinks like I do then they may run into the same issue, another issue I may have is slow updates and since if it was to be made by someone else they would probably have my art style too so I'd probably be mad because it wasn't mine. I worked really hard on my style for years.

I wouldn't read Demon+Girl. The subject matter is weird, the world seems too loose despite being in its early pages. The style is too inconsistent. HAHA! I'm so self critical, that said, I like to think I have a humor, and emotion I can convey that helps a reader stay interested. I do so enjoy helping people laugh, but I hardly laugh at myself. Get what I mean? If I saw my own stuff replicated and regurgitated back at me (in a theoretical non-art-theft sorta manner, like a mirror world) I probably would be put off by it.

Tbh, I probably wouldn't read it. I don't usually read comics featuring anthropomorphic animals, which is why it's weird to me that I even have a comic with such characters. Lol...I'm pretty self-critical, as well. So I probably wouldn't like the style either.

Isn't this essentially the hardest question for any artist or writer in any creative aspect? It's so difficult to look at something you have created objectively.

Comics or writing may be the hardest of all, trying to convey a point you know so well in your head...it's not always easy to get that point across to others, and have it make sense the way it makes sense to you.

That being said, I try to take a step back from Burning Bright every once in a while and ask myself the important questions like:

"Does this make sense?"
"I that too corny/cliche?"
"Is this boring?"

I've also watched or read other shows and comics objectively, figuring out what annoys me; what I like; what I think they are lacking, and try to incorporate those aspects into my story.
So, yes, long story short ( ) I would read my own comic because I've tried my best to include key aspects or details I feel are often left out of other stories.

Omg that's so relatable, yes. I've always watched/read/played with critical thinking, and that's why I try my best with my own pieces. I often find myself reading my texts with pleasure, giggling at witty phrasing and correcting every damn possible comma that isn't in the right place.

It's great when a creator actually enjoys their own work - especially for long projects (like yours...I see you already have over 100 episodes out!) when it takes up so much of your personal time. Might as well make it something you love, right?

This is a tough one, I mean, I can be overly critical and hate how some pages or panels turn out, but over all I like my comics, I would not work on them if I did not like them even a little bit, so that being said, if I didn't draw my comic, but found my comic (that was made by someone else) I would be a fan of it, because I make comics about stories that would be interesting to me, with characters that would be interesting to me, just like anything else I'm a fan of that has a story and or characters that I like.

Actually now that I think about it, I would actually probably advertize 'not my comic' more than I I actually advertize 'my comic'... cause that is currently what I always do with things I like.

Person: Hey you draw a webcomic?
Me: Yes, but speaking of webcomics have you seen 'Lackadaisy' ahhhh maaaiii gaaaaawwwwwddd Hold one. Lemme find the link, cause I'm going to show it to you right now.

See... that would be me with my comic in another world where my comic wasn't my comic but the comic of someone else... you get the idea.

Would you read it? Yes I would, it has stories and characters that I like, it would be hard for me not to if I managed to discover it.

What would be the first hook that grabs your attention, writing-wise? That's hard to say, different things for different stories manage to hook me. I guess the characters would be what would appeal to me the most. I tend to create a lot of characters that relate or WOULD appeal to me, so it's hard to think that I wouldn't like them if I found them somewhere else.

What would be your favorite thing about it? Another difficult question, because that's even hard for me to answer for things I like in general "what do you like about 'anime series" Me: Well, I hate the art style sometime but I would have to say I love everything. "What do you like about 'game title" Me: Well I really hate the thing but overall I think I would have to say I like the everything. "What do you like about cats?" Me: Well that would have to be their everything.

But for the sake of attempting to answer this question... umm... I would like... that I liked it and was enjoying it...?

What would be your least favorite aspect? The spelling and grammar mistakes, and if the author is anything like me the random hiatus and wait time from them constantly getting sick and getting themselves in the hospital. And some of that art man, who ever drew my 'not my comic' better be like 12 years old because wtf.

Least favorite thing about it? The pacing and lettering make it kinda hard to be enjoyed as much as it could be. Also sometimes the jokes are sort of lost.

This was kinda hard to do since my comic doesn't have very many strips out yet, but still pretty interesting.

I don't really write my comic , but I can't really read it either? I love reading the scripts though, so probably? I like adventure, I like gadgets I like coming of age stories and colors. Just makes sense.

Interesting question... if I found the same comic, just made by someone else? Yeah, I'd probably read it, since the concept is very interesting to me. (I have actually found a few other smaller comics with the same concept, they're pretty fun)

The thing grabbing my attention would be the concept itself, the "personified game companies".
Favorite thing would be the jokes and characters
The thing I wouldn't like... well, some of the early jokes/comics feel a bit "flat", and the art could need some work in places.

I have many ideas and personally I would not mind it. The biggest questions at this point is which one and holding back or going all out (provided the artist is a hell a lot better then me)?
I love horror and gore. When I script I typically take my time with characters and situations that they may find themselves in to make a timeline. At first I find situations that make myself cry, get goose bumps, or even feel sick. Then part of me tries to hold back due to how graphic it can get and fear that I may not be able to deliver it right. Now I will read just about any comic out there, but if someone could make me cry, get goose bumps, or start to feel sick just by reading it-- it would be a dream come true. Equally so if it will excite me to the point where I bounce off the walls too.

When I first got the idea of "if someone else made my comic" I was bouncing off the walls with excitement, but after some thought it has taken away some of my confidence and replaced it with some doubt. Only one thing to do-- improve!

Edit: Took a moment away and started to think this just sounded too depressing. So Just going to add that I have started a project to try and raise my confidence. I just will need to get a new cord for my printer, before I could do any posting.
