If you could erase one trope and multiply another

So, like, if you could take one trope and get rid of it forever from that moment on, what would it be? What just gets under your skin and grinds your gears? Y'all hate some trends, I know you do lol I got my receipts from a previous topic..

But say you did get rid of one. What if you could make another one more popular, what would that other trope be? That good stuff that makes you want more out of a story, tell us what you're up for no matter what!

I would eradicate the liar reveal troupe, we all know they will make up in the end and the message of do not lie is hollow when the liar is redeemed by fixing his own problem, as if that's something noble and not their actual responsibility to fix in the first place

I would love if the crouching idiot hidden badass troupe would appear again, it was fun to see the comic relief actually be useful and cool and not just the idiot happy go lucky punchline

Yeah i can definitely see a lot of people getting tired of that trope. Like on the one hand it drives the story but on the other hand....WE'VE SEEN IT SO MANY TIMES!

Yeah, it does drive the story but I say that the characters instead of actually thinking for ten seconds and try to think of a way out of the predicament, nope just banish the MC doesn't matter that his plan is literally the only one we got and is actually smart he lied, therefore, pack up everything and get the hell out we are gonna go die.

it drives the story forward but in a predictable and cliche way and basically ends up becoming a stupid plot, cause every character acts like they have 3 brain cells and can't think for 2 seconds about the actual plan XD

True. When have we see a character actually think more after the lie is revealed instead of trusting said person after the lie and still go with the narrative plot that the writers chose to do. Which honestly has become very stale because as i previously mentioned WE'VE ALREADY SEEN IT!! GIVE US SOMETHING NEW!!

If there was ever a plot trope that always bothered me a lot it would be "the power was always within you" trope. I can't for the live understand why so many MANY people tend to use this trope a lot for their stories,comics, games, etc. Because we the audience would sometimes ask "wait, when did they get this power?" and the lazy answer would be "they had it within the whole time" and why only now does said power only activates during a critical moment in the story like during the final battle or save someone important to the mc or one of the side characters. And sometimes when they make a different answer it's sometimes the reincarnation trope or the only activates when it wants and the mc or side character can never harness it until a critical moment in their plot.

Honestly: love triangles! I fucking hate them. You have 2 guys chasing a girl but it’s made totally obvious Right from the start who the mc is gonna end up with, so the second guy’s purpose is literally to just exist for cheap drama. I mean I do like love rivals but don’t act like they’ve got a chance when we all know it ain’t happening. If you want a second to be in love with the mc then make it purely one sided, because there’s nothing I hate more than the wishy washy ”who’s the right guy” when it was never even a competition.

I dunno what trope I would want more off so I’ll add that if anything comes to mind. I do really like the recent ”reincarnated into a xxx”, since it gives a fresh spin into these stories with usually more down to earth but more fun Mc but since that’s already a really popular trope it doesn’t really count for this.

I want to erase/change all characters that are just solely devoted to another character and that's their defining role in the story. Like I don't have issue with love triangles, but so many of them suffer from the above. I want the love interests to have to have their own lives, they can't be fawning over the main character every second they're with them. I want them to have their own motives and wishes other than to get with the MC.

I'd like to see more older characters. I've had enough of these younger than 23 whipper-snappers.

The trope where the demon and angel army had a large war in the prologue and the mc is a hybrid demon-angel thing. On top of that their parents were killed and the mc is banished to the normal human world to live a regular life hiding their real form. Bonus points if they also have cat ears.
It's just kind of messy and doesn't make sense.

I'd like to see more action stories where the mc does not rely on magic or powers. Just their regular weapons and a witty mind they use to outsmart stronger opponents. No Deus ex Machina, so the mc knows when they are outmatched and does not use a bs power of friendship to win the match.

You think if the mc is half demon half angel (nephilim essentially) the angels or even demons would kill it at first sight. But no, banishment is all they get and they act like "oh this will definitely not come to bite us later in the future"

Especially if the story builds up the mc to go on a search for revenge to hunt down everyone who sold out their parents and the cause of their death. Or tries to be the balance of both worlds.

Yeet the creator's pet. If I can tell which extra will get a disproportionate amount of attention because the episode/work has a certain writer, that just drags everything down and rarely ends well. You can like the character and give them more screentime, but not shift the moral focus or even romantic focus while you're in the helm while other creators scramble to work with your poor choices by the next instance.

Multiply mundane fantasy applications or replacements for modern technology. I want to see more than fireball being used for cooking - have musician spirit containers that work as CDs, electric magic used to charge batteries, programmers being required telekinetic powers as a hand injury preventing measure. Give me weird applications, especially.

I'm gonna add another one, don't mind me hehe.

If the entire female cast of a party is super busty or the entire male cast has a six or more pack. I get that there are always characters that are busty or ripped and i don't think having a number of characters representing that is weird. Especially muscled characters if they are physical fighters and wield large weaponry or heavy armor.

But when the underaged girl has large boobs or a large ass, or the fifteen year old boy has a twelve pack i'm starting to question your design choices. It would also be weird to see a mage sporting arms thicker than a car tire, unless they have a very concrete reason as to why.

I want more silent comics. Ones where there is no text at all and the entire story is told through actions, pictures and interactions.
