If you could go back in time to when you started your comic/novel and give yourself some advice what would it be?

Procrastinate less, don't leave out scenes, and worry less because in a year from now you will be redrawing everything

Learn how to color digitally before publishing. I've been a traditional b&w artist since forever but when I started making comics I knew I wanted to color them digitally. I thought it'd be simple and really should've known better. I'm a dumbass who started to learn how to color as I was creating my comic.

It kind of backfired. If I can't color with traditional tools, I sure as hell can't digitally! I learn new stuff all the time, and wish I could experiment more to find a style I really like.

I would go back and tell myself all the things we had to figure out. Like "this is how you draw Sallly's magic." "This is how Lani's magic vision is going to look like"

1. Write down the name of every single font you use and add it to a custom collection on Clip.
2. Try to keep chapters a rough number of pages instead of just freeforming it.
3. Plan breaks months ahead.

Iron out how your characters fit into you wider universe before you start and finish your historical research!

i'd tell myself "Stop what you're doing right and revise it. Every time i look at my old version of my novel i gag. There's so many times i ask myself "oh god why did i wrote that?!" Thankfully over time as i improve my writing with some creative writing classes at my college

Don't use the same page template all the time. Do lineart. Do lineless backgrounds and actually put effort in them.

And learn more about your device and how to actually use your drawing program before you jump right in, and then decide to start over because you HATE your comic. I mean, I still hate it most of the time, but I hate it slightly less, now lol

Tutorials on comic art are neat for tricks, but if you don't really enjoy reading and exploring comics, you're never going to understand the culture of storytelling.

Also be a cog in the machine instead of trying to be a machine.
