Hello-hello!
Iām 33 and and work a full time job during the day for a non profit. I honestly always knew that art was going to be my true passion, but I knew Iād have to pay the bills in order to make the art I want to see in the world. I went to college to get a well rounded education, did some internships, volunteer work and summer jobs for experience and after working a variety of jobs from Accounting to Childcare I realized that in order for me to be able to create (make comics, art, etc.) I couldnāt work a job that was to taxing on me during the day. When I did work those jobs Iād be too wound up and looking for escape that Iād just play videogames and read comics, but not want to make anything.
I got my current job at a job at a non profit and everything just sort of clicked. The stress levels were manageable and so was the workload. I could come home and just create for hours and it felt right. The only down side is not making as much money as I used too, but Iām way happier though with what Iām doing with my life and Iāve been able to work on my comic so Iām happy A-F despite everything.
The thing that helps me the most is honestly getting organized and keeping a schedule though. My workload is a lot less stressful but itās still a workload and having planned days and times for working on the comic, free time, and socializing has really helped me take control of my life.
