I'll read your comics based on their impressions on me

So one of the important things I'm planning to work on with Square One once I start drawing pages is the beginning, the hook of the story. A strong hook is important because it makes readers interested in the plot.

So to see how other people approached it and maybe to pick up some new comics to read along the way, I'll check out your comic! I'll see how long I remain interested. I may even sub if I find your comic compelling. But either way, you can ask for whether you'd like my feedback on it (please let me know if I should sugarcoat it or if I can be brutally honest). It may not be objective this time around as I'm quite biased based on the genre, art style and maybe dialogue a little as well.

I may also already be subbed to you, but in that case I'll tell you if I'm subbed already.

Ahh, yeah, beginnings and hooks are really hard. Here's mine - a short story comic mystery that I've been doing to practice keeping things short and impactful. Hopefully it helps with your research. Alrighty, so I haven't read it very thorough but I do think I'll take a moment to read it later, because I really love the art style. The amount of ink that went into it and the overall greater amount of black than white really compells to me in all honesty (I like linework that has a lot of focus on the ink, never really been a fan of overall thin lineart you see in webtoons). So I subbed.

As I said I haven't completely read the story yet but based from what I have seen it isn't too complex which makes it more relaxing for me to read through in my opinion

So while I started, I was rather confused at the beginning (I presumed there was some kind of monster in the pine tree forest). I was also wondering how this would tie in to the protagonist, since the blurb mentions a traumatic encounter. Unfortunately, the sequence after the forest scene was just slow to me, with a lot of talking. And well, the monologue made me lose interest, sorry

I do like the way the protagonist copes with his trauma and tells himself that he'll never do something again to get through the day. I think that was a nice touch to get to know the mc and learn about a shard of his past without a lot of exposition. It's just a shame that after that the monologue starts.

Honestly really solid! I was going into this not having much of a impression due to the thumbnail which is more chibi-ish than the actual art, but the art is surprisingly good, with natural poses and being softer while still being clear enough to read.

The exposition of Mora's backstory is done rather well with it requiring only a few flashbacks to show the conflict between her family and the hunters, and it ties into the ongoing combat rather well. I also like that the beginning immediately drops you into the action but it doesn't feel wrong to me. You got my sub

Feedback to start the day is always good and agree on the hook part. Think some of my favorite stories had something similar to it even if it’s a short little one page prologue thing.

Honestly a really good comic with great art and I like the different setting you choose. The only thing that probably holds me from subbing is that the genres and probably the direction of the story aren't really my cup of tea (which is totally on me and not your fault at all).
I think the opening sequence is natural albeit a little slow for my comfort (again, that's on me and the type of pacing I like )

Hey I checked out your first few episodes and i like that you started the story. Also like how you allow the characters to tell the story through subtle and realistic dialogue without putting too much information; Nothing feels like the writer telling the audience about something it all feels natural. But yeah not all stories will be everyone’s cup of tea but you do have a solid work and nice little fan base looking at your stuff. Great work

Oh, this seems really relevant--I redrew and rewrote the beginning of my comic entirely to nail the beginning.

My approach was a little different--I finished the whole comic before beginning to post it, so I had a little time for revisions before I decided to put it up.
I'd love to know what people think and I have a sort of 'soft formula' for beginnings, if anybody wants to talk about them.

I really believe the beginning is the HARDEST part of the story to write.
