I'd highly recommend Gatchaman Crowds. It's a very smart anime inspired by the old anime series Gatchman. It's about the role heroes have in society along with the effect social media can have on society as a whole. It's got great characters and excellent animation with a story that really makes you think about the world around you. Season 2, titled Insight, is even better because of it's themes about the dangers of getting caught up in extreme rhetoric and going with the flow, which is quite topical today.

Seriously though, go watch Gatchaman Crowds. It's an incredibly underrated show with one of the best soundtracks I've heard.

Just gotta say, I loved Samurai Champloo and Ranma 1/2.

Slayers was an oldie I loved growing up. Fantasy and slapstick comedy with lovable characters. I'd recommend Slayers Evolution and Slayers Revolution if you want to see newer, cleaner animation and less cheesy 90s fillers.

Buuuut for something with less comedy and more action, I really enjoyed 7 Deadly Sins. I think the second anime season is ongoing right now? Colourful shounen character designs, fantasy action and fun comedy bits between the more serious plot.

I don't watch a super lot of anime but Noragami has always been one i enjoyed. I think I like it because there's some romantic and 'friendship rules over all' elements that I'm a bit of a sucker for

Can't take the coins but I'm all for recommending stuff. Hope you haven't checked out any of these or I'm gonna feel silly.

Some of my favs in action comedy are:
Noragami-- a show/manga about Japanese gods and their subordinates set in modern day Japan. Yato is a stray god who isn't recognized as a real god, and takes on odd jobs and wishes in an attempt to get people to acknowledge and remember him. If you're into samurai action, this has some of that. The anime is great, but I'd recommend going with the manga just cus it goes beyond where the anime stops and has a great art style imo.

Kekkai Sensen (Blood Blockade Battlefront) -- This one was created by the creator of Trigun. The anime is great. It's episodic much like how Samurai Champloo is. It's about a secret organization and the zany, weird trouble they get into. Set in a mock New york city. Soundtrack is great too.

I'll also throw in Jojo's bizarre Adventure: Diamond is unbreakable for good measure cus it's Jojo.

I can't get tips, but I have to recommend kyousougiga. It takes a bit of time to understand what's going on but the plot's an amazing family-centered adventure that's only 10 episodes (though they feel a lot longer imo)

I loved Samurai Champloo ones of the best anime I've ever watched, because it combines action and comedy without feeling silly or forced, you just go with the flow of the story, also the background music was a big plus, and the character design with a urban vibe, without feeling out of context.

Another anime that I love thas combines action and comedy is One Punch Man because it's silly but at the same time genius, and sometimes even serious, I really admire ONE.
Another one would be Gintama, because they make fun of almost every genre you can think of, some arcs are interesting and some others not so much, but maybe you will enjoy it.

Just cause, I suggest for slice of life stuff;

Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai! It's a REALLY good slice of life, but it has drama and love too, AND good fight scenes even! ^w^ My absolute favorite!

Two very good shows from 2017 are Made in Abyss and Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) if you haven't watched those already. They're available on Amazon Prime video. Please don't let your dislike of 3DCG deter you from wonderful shows.

Both of them were my top anime of the year. Both are very strong at world building, character study, and development in general.

And yes, I am tippable.

I wouldn't call Noragami a romantic comedy. It's action first, just has some eleme to of other things
