They've been known to do this, and I've talked to other creators who find it invasive/ annoying. I personally don't find it too annoying (probably because I have yet to receive one) but I do think it's rather pointless. If someone wants to leave Tapastic, or wants to go on a break, let them be...

Well... a similar thing happens to Facebook and even some shopping sites as well (I've been buying from Book Depository each 4 months since the end of 2013 and last month they sent me a discount coupon with a message like "we miss you, take this coupon" because I haven't bought anything since the beginning of the year). In Facebook, when you have a page, they encourage you to post there; the same thing Tapastic does.

Anyway, it's their business, and they want to keep it alive. By publishing and generating content the business earns money according to the exposition of ads and it keeps them alive so we don't need to pay to use it. Like, in Tapastic, we have an integrated community and all the support of the platform.

Anyway, sorry, I got carried away .-. Just wanted to write a previous explanation in order someone questions the utility (and kinda the ethics) of such emails.

Sending you a coupon motivates you to use it. Asking you to update your comic doesn't quite have the same effect. Demanding readers is already a thing (those horror stories of getting angry/threatening messages from readers when you go on a break), and this unfortunately reminds some creators of that, even though Tapastic has good intentions.

They do that to me sometimes, no big deal. Just their way of saying "Hey, you haven't updated this in a few weeks."

It would be more awkward if they would say "We love you! Please upload your comic!"

Lol what if they say, "If you're not updating it, then bring it down so we sve server space!"
lol. I know they won't do it tho.

I've had a couple of these when my comic goes more than two weeks without an update. I don't really mind, but when my comic goes that long without an update it means I'm on a hiatus that I can't avoid, or I'm literally so busy that I don't have enough time to finish a single page. So it's a bit pointless, but I suppose Tapastic relies on creator uploads so they want to keep you posting.

I used to get emails like this when I was updating a single episode with new pages instead of creating a new episode. I interpreted it as "if you're not still publishing, please tell us and your readers!" so it's not just left hanging there. The emails didn't really bother me, except for the fact that I was still updating regularly, just not by creating new episodes. That's actually part of the reason why I started creating a new episode for each page, so if that was their intention, mission accomplished lol.

I'm personally not a fan on this message, and I've already emailed the staff my feedback on it. I encourage you guys to do the same if you don't think it's necessary either.

I can't understand the possible need for it, however, I think most artists have enough press and stress on their plate that an added on from their hosting site might be too much. Some artists only update once a month anyways because that's how long an update takes to make. imo

Eh, I try to update every week so I haven't gotten this message yet. I would think it would give some people anxiety about updating, haha...it would definitely make me feel anxious.
