I'm starting to see a pattern... I feel like my comics aren't really welcomed here for the past 4 years I've trying to get my footing here, but it's been tough... and I don't know if I want to continue posting here

so, I would like to ask you guys is it me and my comics? or is it tapas weird algorithm?

please be honest thanks

It's Tapas. There are a few hyper specific genres that have mass appeal on the platform and the organisation laser focusses in on them, pushing everything in it. That's why you see a flood of a lot of same-y looking stories. Furthermore, a lot of folks who start a webcomic are doing it for the clicks and the views, so they'll try to chase a trend, and use the same copy paste 3D assets from clipstudio, causing more homogenity in the available comics.

So no, it's not you, it the webcomics culture here on Tapas. Thing is, I doubt you'll find a platform that works any different.

In the end, I host my comic here not to be discovered in the algorithm, but to have a linkable website. Until I make a move to host it on a site myself, which might not bo too far off now I'm thinking about it.

I think tapas usually only show premium stories in the different genre categories. So unless you search a story specifically, you probably won't find anything that isn't premium. but I'm not sure

The Gifts tab are specifically that—gifts. These are series that otherwise take ink to unlock episodes so Tapas is offering them for free for a certain time.

If you're trying to find your own comic, you have to go to the Community tab. They are sorted by popularity within their own genres. Popularity for the day is measured by engagement, the amount of reads, likes, and comments a series experiences in a set timeframe.

Tapas will look through community series on occasion to spotlight them but with a minimum set of requirements, like several episodes up, updated on a regular basis, quality art and writing.
