So, I'm not sure what the standard is here or what's best in terms of the speed of release.
I write The Secrets within Lightveil Academy2, which is an action-fantasy novel with chapter length averaging around 2,000 words each so far. I am still writing the book, and I will be releasing chapters little by little as I go. I don't have much written ahead. In between working and attending college, my writing is slowed down quite a lot. I know that I can find the time to write at least one chapter biweekly without too much stress, but I worry that that's too long of a wait for most readers on Tapas, especially when I see people submitting chapters about the same length every other day. What do you guys think? What's the norm here?

Honestly it's all up to you for me I release 10k words weekly but I used to do 5k daily. As someone who also works it is definitely not ideal for us to be posting daily or every other day. Stick to the schedule your used to.

Idk what the norm is, but i release approximately 1500 words once a week for my stories unless I'm part of a competition

It all depends on the platform. Like tapas says atleast 3x a month is a good update, though they prefer 3-7x a week of 1500-2000 words each. Webnovel prefers daily uploads of 1000-2000 words, and sometimes even encourage 3 uploads daily of 1000 words each approx 5x a week.

I got decent traction doing 1700 words once week, but I definitely get more interaction with the 3x a week.

Honestly I don't know how many words I release a week. I went back and divided my novel into chapters that would fit in Tapas' 15,000 character max episodes. I release two of those "episodes" per week. So probably ~3000 words a week.

I used to upload ~1500 words daily when I first started posting, but that quickly got overwhelming (for readers--I have backlog for years). I honestly don't really see more engagement when I upload more frequently. I have such a huge volume of chapters uploaded that for anyone starting the novel now, I don't think my current upload schedule is much of a factor. I'm not seeing new subs come in the same day I upload anymore after the site changes shunted community series off into their own special hell.

My word count varies but I’m trying to upload every Friday, however that could change depending on how life takes me. I would say do what’s good for you
