There will always be popular topics, though what's popular at the time may change. There is no easy way to success for anyone who does not fall into a popular category. No platform will cater to everyone equally, so it's up to you to do the hard work of getting noticed.

In a site like this, what you need to do is advertise, engage with reader and creator, make good enough content, and uploaded often.

If you gave up on a platform because you think they're tend to go more for the lgbt content (which in this case, maybe it is. Its still business for them), going to another platform might not even do you good.

Wow, you have 191 subscribers! Last week I threw a party for finally breaking 20 subs - but I'm a glass half full kind of person! My advice would be to say "sorry everyone, I had an episode" and keep uploading here for the appreciative 191 while you search for other venues. I can recommend The Duck as a community run site with a diverse set of comics and a nice bunch of people. Site modernisation is in the pipeline too.

3 years ago slice-of-life gag-a-days were the big thing. People were complaining about them left and right here on the forums. Nowadays it's BL. What I'm saying is hot topics can change with time, it just depends on the quality of bourgeoning material here to sway it in a new direction.

Tapas is a community of humans, not robots. Therefore, each individual is going to have their own preference/taste in books and comics. That's not something you can control.

It's a person's choice/free-will to support your content or not to support it. That principle applies to any platform that you use.

Yes, you may have put lots of effort and dedication into your work and not getting the desired result can be frustrating, but at the end of the day, it all comes back to choice. People choose what they want to read or support.

Except that this restaurant (Tapas) is not only serving anchovies. They have other great dishes but they're not as prominent because everyone is talking about anchovies (popular section) while other good stuff hides behind the corner (fresh feed and sometimes daily snack or noteworthy titles)

Tapas has more than BL, you just have to look harder.

Kinda, but Tapas is improving and it slowly gets better in terms of discovery (imho it's already more pleasant than webtoons). So hang in there, anyone who needs to hear this ^^9

Search by ANYTHING that isn't BL or romance and the majority of results should be potentially interesting to anyone who isn't interested in your average bl comic.

Try being a gay person looking for gay friendly content in traditional media. Now THAT'S "having to look harder".
I find it pretty hilarious when cisstraight people complain it's hard to find cisstraight content in today's society. It's not hard. It's just easier for those who aren't, uh, you to find stuff that we like too. Y'all just ain't used to seeing it. And you know what, that reaction is part of the problem and a huge reason that we need to keep being visible and take place in the spotlight. We need to keep doing that until it's not that big of a deal anymore.

Leaving is your decision, but don't blame it on Tapas or its readers. Popular genres fluctuate over time. And there are plenty of stories which aren't BL/romance (one of their newest premium stories is Villains, which is neither but still amazing).

BL is popular because there's an entire community of LGBT+ people who have been ignored by traditional media up to this point- or portrayed as insulting cliches. While we still get some cliches in the genre, at least LGBT content isn't the pariah it used to be.
Maybe it's flooding the internet, but if you hadn't been able to talk for centuries you'd probably have a lot to say, too.
