So with the new Venom movie I was reminded of a reeeaaaaalllllyy old fanart that I did.
How old?
How about 1991? Likely before many of you were born. We're talking thirty-three years ago here!
My oldest brother was always a superhero comics weenie, and he tried desperately to get me into them as well. I was never able to get into them like he did (I was more into Archie and Richie Rich, as well as Asterix). I did like the art in those superhero comics, though, and so when I got my shiny new 286 computer in 1991 I decided to try replicating the cover image of The Amazing Spider-Man #347.
Here's that cover:

And here is my attempt:

Now, keep in mind that this was drawn using an MS DOS program called ZSoft Paint that was included with a mouse driver floppy. It was drawn freehand with a mouse and originally saved in the PCX image format. The computer it was drawn on was a 12MHz 80286 with 1MB of system memory and a 640kb VGA video card. I was limited to 640X480 @ 16 colours (my CB monogram was added years later, and so it has more colours). The file sizes were usually about 160kb, so I could fit four of them on a 720kb floppy disk.
Anyway, just thought I'd share this memory...
