Hey everyone,
My name is Bart, and I will be using this topic as a little means to introduce myself and my project. To talk a bit more about myself, I am a 26 years old man from Belgium, and one of the reasons I decided to work on a manga is due to my obvious fondness for the medium and story-telling in general. I actually first got exposed to manga during a very difficult period in my childhood, and as a result the opportunity to enjoy the countless different adventures those series offered started to give me the desire to write my own story someday.
I am also really fond of cats, got 2 of them (I used to have 3 of them, but unfortunately one of them went to kitty heaven). If we were to talk about what inspires my stories, then it depends really. I'm a huge fan of the fantasy genre, but comedy has a soft spot in my heart, and a healthy slice of romance often makes it perfect. For my current story I often compare Her last fairy-tale's real world story to a title like Clannad (that I consider quite precious) due to how Her last fairy-tale is meant to be a rollercoaster of feelings. You'll hopefully be laughing, crying, get excited and upset all before we reach the conclusion of the story, and then have a want for more~
The fantasy story told in Her last fairy-tale draws a lot of inspiration from the Suikoden series, in the sense that it focuses on a protagonist who against all odds has to find a way to save her people from an enemy nation that has an overwhelming advantage. But there are also some bits of inspiration from series left and right that I enjoy, from Final Fantasy to Lord of the Rings and even Game of Thrones.
To talk a bit more about my project:
Her last fairy-tale
Her last fairy-tale is the first story I have been actively working on for quite a while. It is a tale that a lot of us might draw some connection to. You likely remember those days, or still have them: a time when you have this dream or ambition that you want to accomplish at all costs. Often for some reason we are forced to abandon those dreams, but then again... for some of us that is simply impossible.
Elise is just like many of us, a dreamer. Her one and only wish for the future is to create a novel someday, not out of desire for fame or wealth but merely because she wants to make the world as a whole able to enjoy all the adventures she experiences within her daydreams. It is an innocent dream that she is trying to accomplish at all costs, and is aided by her best friend, who is also the love of her life Rebecca.
Elise's talent for story-telling is clearly there, as she is able to express the tale with such emotion and passion that it feels like the readers can see the story vividly. However, not all is sunshine and rainbows, for Elise is plagued by a fragile body and a worsening sickness that has haunted her since she was a child.
Will Elise's dream become fulfilled, or will the hardships of reality keep a dream... merely a dream?
I hope to get the chance to talk to everyone more in the future~
