Is anybody currently meeting the requirements for Patreon sponsorship on Line Webtoon?

It's realistic to reach the the tier.. since the tier changed webtoon algorithm favor those webtoon that update often.. and make it harder for the one who update more than a week...

So you can update often and update at the most efficient time (depend on your webtoon audience, for me it's saturday 3/4PM)

I published my webtoon in october and I get $100 that month. in december i get $1000. When the tier changes i get $500..
That's all from my hardwork, observing the stats, and magic from BL genre...

Actually, despite what webtoon encouraged in their notice to update more often, the new requirement actually discourages this. The more updates you have, the more your page views get averaged out. The higher the tier, the bigger of a jump in requirement. So for 1k tier, if you think you can earn 300k views every update, I wouldn’t recommend updating too often. I barely made it for THIS month with just 2 updates on average.

Yeah.. atleast if they want to focus on gaining subs first.. then they can update once a week..

if we already have enough subs,we want to focus on pageviews, then we can't update too often.

That's totally true, I would recommend not updating at the end of the month at all , leaving at least 1 week, so that your views can build up and average out better, doing this helped me so much.

I think once a week, or once every 10 days is a healthy schedule to upload, if you need to get subs. More than this, people might start to feel spammed. I dont suggest you to upload every 2 weeks if you don't have already a very comfortable fanbase, like 50k subs, cause your neighboors who update more often will get more subs, more views, you'll end up slowly getting behind in the rank and it will be harder as hell to climb back, specially if you're in a genre with huge competition, like romance and fantasy. Good thing is that readers aren't so bothered about huge chapter lenghts anymore, there are many well succeded, amazing webtoons uploading episodes, sometimes, with 10 panels.

Yea sub is a different subject. You should update as frequent as possible to build yourself a reader base. Pageviews wise, sure updating more often can net you more total pageview in a month because your readers / new readers keep coming back. But in reality that tactic takes a big toll on your pageview average, which is what actually goes into calculating your pledge qualification.

I agree, but even if they update at the end of the month, the views will help for the next month and again on the last day of that new month views will again go to next month, i notice some authors doing that and it works too.

You typically gain the most views on the day of your update, so I’m not sure how practical this method would work since all the views you gain from that update on the day of upload would be reset when the new month rolls around. Sure the next few days you probably will earn some more views but I doubt it would be as much as the day you upload the update. You would potentially lose out a big chunk of views there I assume.

Especially when LW change the algorithm, when your update and the next day get less and less pv..

for me, usually when i update i get the pv the same (or more) as my amount of subs.. 30k subs = 30k++ pv then after the tier changed, i only get 40k subs = 35k pv.

So not just that we can't update often, we get less pv too.

Added : and when we not update often, (15 days not updating) we will get kicked out from popular page which means we get even less subs and pageviews

Lately I notice authors using a technique to get more views. Webtoon seem to not see it as abuse of the system since they don't even penalize anyone doing that.

I observed a creator and everytime she keeps putting teasers, or just one drawing, then 1 or 2 days later she erases it. That means she gets the views of these without it counting as an update for them to divide the total views over.

Let's say you have updated 6 times this months but 4 were little one page drawing you erased before the month ended, that would leave you with a total of only 2 updates by end of month, the views of the other 4 updates you erased are counted for you, helping you get bigger pledge.

Anyone thought of doing that? I saw a few creators doing it and webtoon doesn't seem to care but even seem to allow.

As far as I know if you delete the update, all the views u get from said update would disappear. Or that’s what happened to one of my friend who restarted her webtoon.

Not exactly. I deleted some episodes to restart my story and only lost the hearts, the views were intact.

I deleted some episodes because I was rebooting, never thought about using this to cheat the system (that is already pretty messy, btw). But I see sooooo many people doing smething alike... random uploads, then delete... well... u.u

Oh I see not sure but she ended up not getting the pledge from last month because she deleted her episodes losing out views and update. I wouldn’t trust the dashboard to keep check of my stats since they sometimes don’t match up with Webtoon’s end but eh, if someone wants to try the method LMFAO

Talked to a few of my friends sometimes they didn't receive the right pledge even though they met the requirement, they sent Webtoon an inquiry and is said that the pledge they received is according to the back end system of Webtoon, so sometimes numbers can be off. I also know of case where some people receive more money in their pledge than what they met on the requirement, vice versa. (Both has happened to my friends) Typically LINE is pretty responsive with this problem and give the people the pledge money they missing / tell them to keep the pledge money that they already sent out even though it's more than what they should be making. (Since it is technically a technical difficulty on Webtoon's end, I assume)

an author has been doing that technique for 3 months already and she still receives the pledge. I pretty sure the views don't disappear if you delete. The likes do disappear but the views stays.

Also there r too many authors using a one page drawing or unimportant announcement for a second update just to get the pledge. Now the very last day of the month fresh is bombarded by creators doing a one page of uneeded announcement, some happy chinese new year or whatever they can use to do 1 page... such desperation. To me people doing that over and over, isn't that abusing the system of discover? webtoon should look into creators who overly do that.

Sort of, I get what you mean. Someone sent an email to webtoon regarding this problem and they said they would try to implement better rules. I guess increasing the requirement of the pledge amount by a giant leap the more you earn could be one way to reduce these type of people from earning too much just from "announcement" and "illustration" art? TBH it's pretty hard for webtoon to go over every single qualified comic to check if they do in fact update a "proper" comic chapter. That would require actual human to check, not machine. And even with the requirement increased, January alone still has almost 300 creators qualified.

Yeah, comics on discover these days are full of creator notices talking about themself being injured, depress, getting into this and that matter..etc.. make me wonder why is everyone else life is full of drama, or my life is just boring.
