The requirements for LINE Webtoons have notably been changed and for some people, not for the best.
While I can't remember the exact amount needed, it used to be something like this.
If you reached 2,000 subs you got $100 and if you reached the 10,000 sub mark, you got $1,000.
Now you got to reach 10,000 subs just to get $100.
The original may have been a bit different than what I've put down but the main point is, it was FAR easier to get to the requirement for the sponsorship in the past. This of course meant that many people who had originally been under the sponsorship got thrown off. Because even if they have 5,000 or 9,999 subs...that's not 10,000 and so...no money.
Is it realistic? I don't know but for a lot of people it came off as sudden and a bit unfair. In the past, Decent Artists could at least work hard enough to make a bit of money and the greatly talented could make enough to make something of a minor living.
Now though, it feels like the decent artists will never make anything. The greatly talented will struggle to make a $100-200 and honestly, considering what it takes to get to $1,000 (Something like 150K subs) your story is probably being featured anyway.
Needless to say, whether it's realistic or not, things got harder for people.
