Is Page by Page better on Tapastic?

So for my own comic series, Freak of Nature, I've been used to doing a weekly update, instead of updating page by page like other creators here, since I started on Webtoons.

Is it more beneficial on Tapastic to post pags day by day or week by week? With this new reboot i wanna try to get more people on Tapastic engaged and reading it.

I think it works best when you're just starting up and don't have a lot of pages yet.

When I finish an issue (book) I think I'm going to compile that issue into whole-chapter (or segmented chapter) uploads in another "comic". I think it'd be less intimidating to new readers when they don't see hundreds of pages to get through.

For story series, I think the most ideal method is to release a full thought that sorta ends on a chill hanger. For example, maybe you have three pages that tells a scene. Releasing those three pages together in 1 update is probably more satisfying for the reader than coming back each week/day for a new page, that out of context can be confusing.

For a gag series, I don't think it matters as much. However, more frequent updates are probably most beneficial.

Most creators release page by page because that's what they're able to do between building a buffer and maintaining a consistent update schedule. I release 1 page a week for that reason.

The best thing is to have a consistent schedule you can keep up with. So as long as you're doing that, you're starting out in good shape. A gag-a-day style comic might update every single day, but with a story comic that can get overwhelming, so once a week, or a few specific days a week is generally better.

How many pages you choose per update is up to your discretion, but again, being consistent seems to help.

The nice thing about spreading out over a couple days is that it gets you a little more exposure on the front page. But I post one page a week because that's what I can maintain long term, and that's pretty normal.

I made the mistake of posting 25 pages of my comic right off the bat.

Huge mistake. Big interest in the first 3 days, then it drops off a cliff face. I never get ANY views until I post a page update, then within 4 hours the views drop down to zero until I update again.

So I always die a little inside when I see awesome webcomics show up here that post everything they have into giant segments instead of breaking it up, thinking they are doing their fans a solid, but they don't realize that they'll never get the views.

I'd say go one page per day, but have a day off in between updates. If you can do three pages a week for example, I'd recommend updating on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the best results. But yes, spread them throughout the week to give fans enough to tide them over, but to also give them something to look forward to.

When I wrote Devil Sunrise, I always had a page by page weekly update in mind. Mind you, this was before I realized vertical webcomics was a thing.

By the time I uploaded the first page, I discovered the vertical format. So if I knew about that format beforehand I would for sure do a whole chapter update. Since I'm more of a story writer than a gag writer (allegedly).

In the end though, it all depends on you. Your readers are always going to be "More pages per update! MORE! MORE!" or "This is fine by me." You really can't win that battle, all you can do is see what kind of schedule you can do and stick with it for the sake of your sanity (and your artist's if you have one).

As some of the others have said, it's okay to upload more than one page if you're just starting out. When I first launched Cosmos Song, the first 15 pages were uploaded in the span of about a week, 1-3 pages per day. I wanted readers to be able to read more than just a couple of pages at the start. From then on, This seemed to help out a lot and got the ball rolling on my comic's readership. I've been uploading my pages one at a time since then it's been working out well for me.
