Is the reason the DBZ character Yamcha is made fun of on the internet is because everyone expected a guy like him to be cool?

Is the reason that Yamcha receives so much hate is because deep down fans expect a character that looks like him to be cool, so all this making fun of him online is really them wanting him to be a stronger fighter ..Is that the truth as to why Yamcha receives the kind of attention he gets online from DBZ fans?

I wasn't aware there was hate of that character? I guess he kind of looks like yet another version of Goku? Most people don't make fun of characters because they're not good fighters on their own, like people didn't make fun of Eren from AOT during season 1 because he was weaker than Levi or Mikasa, they made fun of him because he was whiny and kind of annoying at the start, being so pig-headed it put other characters in danger. And even then there were people who liked Eren, he was some people's favorite character. Other people just couldn't stand his English dub. There were a bunch of reasons.

I don't think you should generalise "how all people feel about a character" based on your small online group, and even more so don't hypothesise "why all people feel this way".

Yamcha was always a joke character. He was often the butt of the joke way back in Dragon Ball. I think fans are just aware that he’s useless in fights compared to everyone else in the series.

no I'm not saying all the fans make fun of him but there is a certain amount of them that do though, but you're right generalizing an entire fanbase would be wrong

He was pretty cool back in Dragon Ball, although he's outclassed even at the beginning and then gets rapidly left behind by the powerscaling of the series. I don't think he deserves any hate though - he was just the butt of the joke in DB, a little in DBZ, and even more in DBZ abridged, and fandom always takes things to ridiculous extremes.
