Is there A WORD FOR THIS?

This may be a shot in the dark, but...
That high-low-pitched whistling sound when you swing a stick through the air. Is there a name or phrase for that? I'm stumped on a crap sentence because of this. Anybody?

check this site and see is something works. My sound effects people might take some time. there's a short "bullet flyby" mentioned but... that doesn't really work.

I know I use the word "snick" for the sound of a sword being pulled from a scabbard, you might want to find your own word that pleases you? Although I've had a few folks tell me they liked "snick"

That's a cool site, actually! I may have to save that for later. And making up a word does sound like something I would do, psh. I guess there may not be a technical term for it, maybe I'm just looking for a better phrase than, "the insert wording of a swinging stick" (humming, whistling, whooshing, zipping, etc)

Find a word that works for you. Like I said, I've had a few people really like the work "sssnnnnick" and when you pull a sword is really does kind of sound like that. If anyone gets back to me with an actual term I'll let you know.

Onomatopoeiae are weird,man. Sometimes my brain overloads and shuts down looking for these words.

@freneticmind - The first word I thought of was 'keening'. In use, "the stick keens through the air" or "the keening of a swinging stick". I've always heard it used as an analogue to 'shrieking', although it has more than one connotation.

SWISH, WOOSH, SWOOSH -- these all work for me.

The term for a word which is pronounced like the sound it makes is on·omatopoeia
