I'm gonna tell you a secret, I've completed 5 webcomics, half way done the 6th, and putting a plot together for a 7th. (Not counting my old now deleted comics lol. most aren't on tapas if you were gonna fact check lol). There is one I did because I knew that's what people would want and read.
That comic was a miserable slog to get through. I hate it. I hate even seeing it on my profile, it disgusts me. If you're not actively being paid it's not worth chasing what people might want to read. Because then what? You're stuck catering to whatever audience you've built for better or for worse.
As cheesy as it sounds, create what you want to create and people who want to see it will follow. More so if you're consistent. You'll improve not just in art skill, but speed, composition, spacing, how and where to put text of all things. The idea is worth continuing if it's something you enjoy, something you want to nurture and watch improve. Thinking "It isn't worth continuing if people won't enjoy it" is moot because people aren't a monolith-- some people won't, other people will.
And I saw you mention getting comments about people "not getting it", don't worry too much about that haha. I have definitely lamented over people commenting how they "Don't understand" something that was legitimately spelled out. It happens. I think I get what you're throwing down just fine in these pages, for what it's worth.
Anyways, hope I didn't get too caught up in some one off thought you had, and if you want my personal thoughts on it even after I basically said "aye don't worry about what people think lmao": I see value in it and think it's worth putting out into the world, more so since you've already done a decent amount from the sounds of it.
Besides, just because you've posted it doesn't mean you have to continue or finish it in the future-- you won't be locked to it forever if you ever change your mind or decide to do something else. No harm no foul in putting it out there, basically.
