My experience with Bluesky so far is it's pretty quiet. Probably due to how new it is, and that you need an invite code to even get in, but there just aren't a lot of people consistently posting there.

Also for some reason it clears my feed periodically so I can't see old posts anymore? I find that very annoying??

Bluesky for comics, from what I've seen over the past month;

The furries colonized it first and their art, mostly lewds, dominates.

Webcomics looks like the same very small crowd you always see promoting here and on Pillowfort/CoHost/Mastodon. Same goes for the artists who label their stuff as "manga" but that topic is mostly for fans discussing their favorite shows. Comics itself is a bunch of old direct market guys talking about the latest stupid shit Marvel has pulled.

I'd say it's wide open as a platform, but right now most of BSky's user base seem to be there solely because they, justifiably, hate Elon Musk. You can tell that they'll return to Xitter the second he's gone.

I have 4 invite codes at the moment. I think I have my DMs open to everyone so first come first serve? The only way to take over is to outnumber.

Neil Gaiman is active on there. What else do you need?

Find it hard that he'll leave. He's stuck with that site as a paper weight...

I'm on the sky site as well...they just reached 2 mil members(not sure if a number of those are bot accounts bloating that number) but I still feel like there's not enough "regular" people there for me to just massively promote my stuffs there and gain an audience- though it is nice to NOT have to deal with spam advertisements every third or fourth post.

Like I said, I got 4 invite codes. You and a few others in the thread probably have a bunch more. If people here and on your art socials are willing to take them and contribute, Bluesky can easily become the place creatives need.

If folks aren't taking them because they'd rather see their works and ideas sitting next to a rapist and sex trafficker like Andrew Tate than have their follower count get smaller, well, that's their flaw as people.

THIS. Twitter has been getting worse since around this time last year, but yet folks are still there. I guess some of the other site substitutes(Mastodon, Pillowfort, Spoutible) aren't the solution for them and a lot of the creatives are lamenting having to build up their followers again- despite the fact that their views are being watered down through the algorithm, bots, and spam advertisements.

Admittedly I still have my account open as well, but I've been finding that I'm spending less time there coz I'm tired of all the spam advertisements and the wannabe blue check accounts trying to garner attention & controversy and get "their revenue".
