I kinda do the same thing with FEZboy, taking things that have happened to me, and finding humour in each situation when I do my comic. In a sense, it's almost therapeutic to express your perspective of things in a way that makes fun of them. It teaches me not to take things so seriously.
For Looney Larry, it's kind of my representation of how I see the world (and especially the internet): a loud, crazy, and confusing place, filled with different opinions, disputes, viewpoints, and controversies. I put myself in the shoes of Larry who, as a member of that world, either tries to make sense of the madness, or escape it.
