I have officially started entered the script writing phase!

a few days ago. I'm actually on draft 2 already but I forgot to update about it lmao

Went full Marie Kondo on my Patreon because it was a huge mess. :see_no_evil: Lined a few panels, including those with the crazy stairs, my brain hurts now :pumpkin:

@gabriellabalagna this is a really nice map! :open_mouth: Will look great in the book ^^

I was too lazy to even draw today....

On the bright side, I came up with some new elements/characters for my story and started writing out various potential plot hooks. I think I have a decent enough backbone for it at the moment.

I've been painting cabinets and reformatting comics for mobile format. Then I've got to do my thumbnails for next few weeks, and that'll take some inspiration and deep thinking. Here's a snip from my mobile formatting from one of my banned episodes on (tapas competitor)

now i'm to the point where I've got that final art redo before I can push forward with the mobile formats. that's a good thing I'm really happy to be almost done with the art redos.

Hi, I'm Delyth, 30 yrs and living in the uk.

I have two comics, Mythic Mayhem which is a monthly comic touching on mythical folklore and my new weekly comic Spirit Caller which is a more fantasy adventure sort.

I love character / creature design and if im not making comics I'm painting dragons.

Mainly want to get a good routine going.

Here's some of todays work from inking

Thanks for the encouragement! I'll try todo as much as I can in the weekend. I don't know about slowing the update frequency cause right now I'm uploading every two weeks. Having a marathon day (or a couple) do sound like a good idea though. I'll try to see if I can do that to rebuild my buffer.

Lined and colored 4 simple panels, took me too much time, but I feel like a surströmming :pumpkin: hopefully it will be better tomorrow :werebork:

The dreaded days have come. I'm not currently at home, so I can get little to no work done rn :pensive:

Day 17 of the Comics Challenge! Only two more weeks to go. Today's inspiration is the Picasso quote we've all heard before. Today I studied some panel layouts of other artists, trying to "steal" bits and pieces of knowledge from how each artist does their panels.

The max panels I ever want to do per page is 10. (I counted what other people, and this is the max that I think looks good.) But I've never done that many panels on one page. So I tried to copy how others were able to fit 10 on one page.

Tomorrow I'm gonna focus on studying how to make two-page spreads look good together, and I won't put a set panel amount. I'll just do anywhere from 1-10 panels per page.

Finished making the episode, not sure I have any more strength in me. Maybe I'll make a line if another panel, but eeeeeeeeeh.
Tried sketching something for Halloween short story we thought of (hope I will make it this year too)

Day 18 of the challenge! Quote for today is helping me stay motivated. Even though it feels like I didn't get much done today, at least I didn't succumb to laziness and do nothing. I call that a win. lol

Today I did more panel studies, and tried to come up with my own too. Some notes I want to remember:

Summary
  • avoid super wide horizontal panels cause those don't work well if I want to reformat to scrolling format for sharing online

  • try to make the big panels vertical as those will still feel big if converted to scrolling format

  • use a variation of some big, medium, and small panels, as this looks best. looks boring to me if the panels are all similar sizes

  • use angled panels from time to time for drama/emphasis

  • don't forget to break the margins from time to time to break up the page a bit

  • not every panel has to follow the margin, sometimes they can be slightly farther in to make things feel less standardized and to break up the page better

  • symmetrical pages work well for calm scenes, asymmetrical work well for impact/action

  • it looks really cool when a figure/object breaks out of a panel border and goes on top of another panel

  • if the left page has few panels, the right can have a lot, as they will balance each other out

Sooo... I forgot to post (again ). But I am still working on stuff!

Friday: started to work on the thumbnails for page 52.
Saturday: finished the thumbnails for page 52 (had some issues trying to make the text fit, thankfully I managed to fix it :D) + did the backgrounds.
Today: added some final touches to the backgrounds, inked characters and added character flats

Progress today involved drawing more park scenes (I can't get enough of them) and sketching some character concept art.
I hope I'll find the motivation in me to draw a comic page soon. It's been far too long!
