Slice-of-Life is a type of series that takes place/revolves around the life of a certain character or two. It's not as fanatic when it comes to action, fantasy, or even romance, but more relaxed. It centers around the everyday life of a character and the misadventure they happen to get into, or whatever comes to them. Sometimes, most times, it can be relateable, and sometimes you can add elements of adventure, action, or fantasy (like... the "everyday life" segments of some shows like Sailor Moon), or it can even be wacky and silly (like Spongebob Squarepants). It's a type of genre that's easily mashable and workable that you can tell a story about anything as long as its properly tells a character's journey. Even if its about a kid's childhood, or a teen coming-of-age.

Since you were originally curious to see how long a thread will run for, here's a link to the TAPAS Character Cafe. I think it's the longest running thread so far, and it's at 21.1k replies right now. It did automatically close at 10k (just like Wattpad), but was manually reopened by michaelson. He said that he reset the limit, but I don't really know what the new limit is.
