This game is simple: every couple of days I will post a random question. In order to play, you must respond in character as someone from your comic or novel to the question. When you answer the question, be sure to link your project and name the character you are responding as.

These questions may sometimes be very simple, but they also can reveal surprising insight into your characters. It is a great way to not only hone your voice but also promote your work. Maybe your response catches the right person off guard and you snag a new fan. It couldn't hurt to answer a couple of questions... right?

So, the first question is this: "What is the best food you ever ate?"

I will answer as my werewolf swordsman, Fang: "A few years back, before the kingdom fell, there was a big feast in the castle. We had a visiting dignitary from Tradewind and they had brought some sort of coconut dish from the Southern Isles. I've not been able to have it since."

This is a great idea! Your novel is on my list by the way just getting through a huge amount of novels I need to read. Alright, I'll answer the question as my main character, the elf Virion Salor.

"I remember during the banquet thrown for my mother's coronation, they served the meat of some strange beast. I have no idea what it was but it was the juiciest, most flavorful meat I've ever eaten."

That's a great answer. Out of character, what is the beast that they ate? Magical or more general livestock?

Also, I have your story on my list as well.

Dorbeasts. A wild cow-like beast that's on another continent. Some elves sailed out and procured them just for the banquet. Not magical, not harmful in any way but taste damn good

Hah, neat. I definitely enjoyed the answer and I thank you for building on it.

Kalina, one of the Suntolian tzar's sisters and knyaginya of Kostica: "The best thing I have ever eaten,...hmm, I haven't really thought about it. So many great things come to mind, but I'll go with the beans, baked in a clay pot by the head cook in the royal palace because it makes me feel better when I miss my time in Zhegavica. The other one are the sugar roosters Beloslava and I had when we were investing around in Vulcheraishte."

Sugar roosters sound super interesting. Some kind of poultry with a sweet glaze?

It's a sweet snack, made of sugar and water. They are boiled slowly until it becomes caramel.

I love character response prompts!! Here goes~

"What is the best food you ever ate?"

My MC Shyba: When I first woke in California, Kiara brought me stew that Reba had made. It was the first filling and tasty meal I could remember having in years. I remember feeling so warm and calm after eating it.

Food is a classic one for a question! I am surprised he likes coconut.

KĂ´ra: "It is traditional food called 'Vanarankareih,' my favourite! A thick red soup made from tubers and vegetables, uh. . . I do not think Earth people know them. It has monitor lizard meat as main filling. It is heavy, medium spicy, a bit sour, very rich in protein, also vitamins and minerals. Very good food for everyday, it also warms the body and has medicinal value like for lungs and stamina. The food is best when you can finally make it yourself as you like, because you use your own effort to do it! Thank God I can cook it."

The food itself is featured in chapter 2 of the series:

"What is the best food you ever ate?"

Adiael Esdria, wood elf huntress and adventurer: "Best food? That's a hard question to answer. Food I'm most nostalgic for, though... my village used to make huge batches of smoked venison stew for big events like weddings. The stews made for autumn weddings were the best, because the mushrooms were fresh... They'd serve it with flatbread and hard cider, and it was just so good...."

Koreal Thalanus, elf wizard and adventurer: "Have you ever been to a dwarven barbecue?" garbled noises of delight "I don't know WHAT they did to that pig, but I'm willing to grovel in whatever fashion is necessary to get the pit master to give me the recipe."

June, wandering swordmaster and cover band vocalist: "Not really the best food I ever ate, but I remember this one time where I got into coma thanks to a... Work accident. Of course, my coworkers pretty much dragged me off and threw me in a bed expecting me to die. I didn't, and I was out for a while with no IV drip to feed me. It wasn't until I stumbled into the car that I realized I needed food, so I asked to pull over at the nearest fast food place. Turned out to be a Mexican chain of some sort, I ordered $15 worth of food and somehow ate it all."

Iris: My own baked cookies. Although those weren't chocolate chip cookies, their still chocolate, and I loooove chocolates. So yeah, chocolate-flavored cookies. My own baked. {looks at Ash who is beside her)
Ash: (answers without looking at Iris) Darahan. It's a fruit solely from my country, and it's kind of sweet and watery, juicy. You can eat it as it is, or you can smush it and do something fun to it - mix it in your dessert, in your cup of tea--
Iris: (nodges Ash) You don't like my strawberry cookies? I kinda baked lots for you since you came to my country... you know?
Ash: I know but darahan is from my hometown and--
Iris: So, you're like... homesick?
Ash: ... Yeah, let's stick to that. I love Dayang-Dayang's strawberry cookies, but I'm homesick, so I'll choose darahan. (flashes an unsatisfied smile at the audience)
@hpkomic: Chocolate cookies, and darahan-- (exaggerates fake cough) strawberry cookies baked by Iris herself! That's their answers, folks! Stay tuned, we'll be right back.

The Daring Host: "Alist, what is the best food you ever ate?"

Being new to this show but applies some manners her godmother taught her, Alist Glassheart answers:

"Ever since I isekaied into my favorite high fantasy novel, I've been craving for seafood. Well, I live in the coastal town of Darya so its obvious that there's gotta be a lot of such cuisines everywhere but if you were gonna ask me the best food I ever ate, it's gotta be the Crystal Abalone dishes. Of all the seafoods in Darya, why do I crave those small mollusks compared to the broad fishes of the Advan sea? I may be able to savor on Black Crow Fishes, Seaweed Eels, or even the gigantic Scythe-headed Whale but going through that diet isn't enough to satisfy my appetite as a Mana Covetor. The Crystal Abalone are B-rank mana species that have larger mana plates compared to the previous ones I've mentioned. Making these Mana Fodders my meal will widen my own mana plate. I fish the abalones from our annual sea games and deliver them to my godmother who cooks the savory dishes. As for the recipes, most of them came from me! Pan-fried abalone, sautĂŠed abalone, braised abalone noodles, cheesy baked abalone, and other cuisines that came from my old world. I guess it was because of my "poor person's instinct" that drove me to imagine myself savoring on the mouth-watering foods of the rich people. Hmmm...I wonder if I still remember other recipes in my mental cook book."

Gunhild:
Definitely the waffles I had at yuletide, in my first year of knowing Thor and Sif. Not too fluffy, and not too crispy. Mmm...

A good stew really, really hits the spot. It can be the ultimate comfort food, so the description of it being warm and calm is spot on.

Red: Penne alla vodka with a hint of basil

Blue: Medium rare ribeye steak with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli

What a cool idea for a game! Lot's of good answers. I'll answer as one of my Lycan characters, Timber.

"So it was after a long hunt. We had just snagged our quarry, and were tired, but flushed from the hunt. It was a full moon. Marsh gets.. frisky... on full moons. But we had been hunting all day and I was HUNGRY. So I cooked up my questing special, a bird I killed and cooked! I call it, cooked killed bird! And we ate it."

"What? No I don't remember what kind of bird it was. Why was this my favourite meal? Oh, cause mid way through, Marsh lost patience and pounced on me, and while I had a mouth full of meat, she also had a mouth full of... well anyway, and then some stuff happened. A lot of stuff... Yeah, that was a great meal."

I really loved your description of the dish, great job! KĂ´ra definitely sounds like someone who has really experienced something with the way that they describe the soup.

Hunger is the best seasoning.

Bookist: "Knowledge is really the best food and that's why I share all these books, come pick one... Aside from that, when I was part of this insane cult we once got a bag of some fruit as an offering. We were not supposed to eat them, but I was hungry and it looked juicy so I helped myself to one of them. It was very soft and sweet, with a slight punch of earthy smell and fresh green leaves. It also made me sleep and dream, after which I decided to leave the cult... One day I will tell you what was the dream"
