I would give it a try sure. The mixed media does fascinate me so I would read the first couple pages to see if it would hook me in.

No. It looks too much like the artwork currently on Disney and Cartoon Network (ie Gravity Falls). Not my preference.

I'd definitely read it, the premise seems interesting and I've been hoping to stumble upon more interesting abstract styles like this. It may not please every persons palette but I'm very curious

some people are just being blatantly rude here. what the op said was clear and in no way aggressive. you don't need to be passive-aggressive or hostile just because you don't understand where they're coming from. (I'm sorry if I'm coming off as irritated, I just think a lot of the responses are uncalled for, and I can empathize with the op with being autistic and have quite a few self esteem issues personally).

for myself, I would be open to reading a comic in this style. it's nothing jarring and I normally don't only follow stories that use any particular styles. (but yeah, personally the manga style is an exception with me as it isn't in my interest when reading webcomics).

it depends on the actual plot since i will read anything with any style, also dont worry about the ppl on here, some are kinda touchy, i should know, i pissed off A LOT of people on here

I normally stick to anime-style comics, but I do love the 80s Sci-fi aesthetic, monsters AND labyrinths, so I would give this a try

And for comics that are non-anime style with textures, I have read quite a few. The first one that pops into my head is Lore Olympus, and then there's Always Human which has a bit more anime influence, but very textured. I remember Spy Beat as being a kinda vintage-style comic with textures. And then Salamism, which also has a bit more anime influence, but it's very textured. That's all I can really think of right now, but I hope that helps for reference.

No. I would elaborate but you don't want that. Creative endeavors are going to be hard to break into in a public space without the ability to take criticism. Just a heads up. Make a poll next time if you want only a yes or no response.

I think people are empathizing more with darthmongoose, who put a ton of effort into trying to help someone but was totally shut down, than with sky-chau, who reacted in a way most people can't imagine themselves doing. But being rude back isn't going to do anything positive (I would know lol, I have mistakenly given in to the temptation in the past, and it never helped and always made me feel worse).

Though I do agree with the people saying that sky-chau might be happier staying off the forums. If they don't want criticism then they won't change anything in the comic after posting this, right? So they might as well just draw what they like and trust that there will be readers that like the same things they do.

Sort of weird request you got there. You're asking for someone to give their take on your work--but not too much. I don't think that's a good way to be. People have said my comic and story is trash. That's harsh, but if someone hates something odds are there are reasons. People said I overdid exposition in issue 1 and now I'm dialing it back and focusing on character development, and I honestly think the comic is better for it.

But to answer your question, no. I wouldn't read a comic that looks like that.

Anyway, my own comic is The Power of Stardust, a superhero comic about reimagined public domain characters. It's style is based on the Outer Limits.

Just judging from that one picture I'd say probably not because I feel it's kinda hard for me to see what's happening. But from what I understand the picture was just to give an example so maybe that'd be different in the actual comic. If yes, then I'd still give it a try.

To add, I am no fan of manga or anime either, I prefer western comicbooks of the 1980-2000 time period.

Personal opinion is that if I saw it in the library I'd probably pick it up and give it a try. But to me the art isn't especially appealing, but it does stand out from more clean-cut styles that you usually see on the shelves. You'd really have to have a good story though, since I wouldn't be expecting meticulously-crafted eye candy on each page to make up for a bad one.

If this were a webcomic I'd probably not start reading it because I don't usually click on covers with experimental/abstract art styles.

In my case i may check out the first pages of the comic out of curiosity, it gives me some Madoka Magica`s witch barriers feeling.

Personally i love when creators try new things or go with more experimental approaches in art and/or storytelling, so, kudos for daring to try new stuff.

If i stay it would depend if i get hooked on the plot and characters and if the story is my cup of tea.

I'd give it a look. I like your use of bold color and texture. I would suggest some clearer line work, though, especially where you have two things of similar color next to or overlapping each other. Also, if you have two dark colored things near or overlapping each other, try using a thin, lighter outline of the foreground image. That's only to make your foreground images look clearer. Of course, I have a visual impairment that is not completely correctable, so I hope you take my suggestion as a request for a little accommodation rather than a criticism of your art work.

I like the premise, and because of that, I'll look at it. It's the story and the characters that drive my interest in a comic. Good art is just a bonus.
