Hi, if youre still looking for an artist and don't mind someone who is inexperienced, here is some examples of my art  Random character designs I did for fun: https://sta.sh/224379ygjf9g And some fanart stuff: https://sta.sh/22g0as4ii49d and my instagram which I havent updated in a while, but it sho…

Hi, I'm an inexperienced artist who wanted to enter the contest, but I've been feeling a bit unsure about it since I'm not a very great writer. So if you don't mind working with an inexperienced artist (I do understand if you would rather work with someone with more experience) then tell me and we …

Oh I'll check Unity and Unreal engine out!! They sound useful!! Using 3d animation as drawing reference is a great idea! I can't believe I never thought of that before

I've been keeping an eye on Clip Studio sales, but I literally have no money so its kinda pointless lmao. I'll check out sculptris, thanks!

A think an important thing that people never seem to mention is the aesthetic and atmosphere (I don't know if I'm even using these words right lmao). Basically, if you look at a comic you like, it will have some sort of consistent aesthetic/atmosphere in both the story and art. It doesn't matter if …

So Sketchup Pro costs $299/year. I hate subscriptions (why can't it be a one off pay?) plus I have no money. I could use the free version but then I can't use it commercially, plus when I was using Sketchup for school last year, navigating the website was a massive pain. They like to make it as hard…

One time, I drew an entire 30 page oneshot in just 3 days. I injured my back from sitting for too long though, and it still hurts months later. Plus the pages looked like shit. And this 3 days doesn't include the time I spent doing the outline and scripting. So I don't really recommend it, for hea…

I kinda get the feeling that your novel is a bit bittersweet maybe? An unrequited romance? The genre would probably be drama or romance? The setting looks like a house, maybe a mansion, thats inhabited by someone who has a lots of money that they don't care for. The relationship between the two c…

Webtoon has just announced a new contest!! This one is for short stories, in two categories - Heart and Brain. Does anyone have any tips for people who plan on entering this contest? Or for people who just want to create a short story in general? I'll start: this is pretty basic advice but try …

Sorry, I meant to reply earlier but I currently don't have wifi at home ;-; That's some really good and obvious advice, I honestly have no idea why I didn't start researching like that Yeah I have been focusing more on aesthetics than realism, but I have an arc planned thats meant to go i…

Normally when I'm doing research for a story, I already have some basic knowledge which helps me to know what I need to research, but I'm kinda stuck with my current WIP. It's a steampunk inspired story and one of the main characters is a sort of android/automaton. I've done lots of research into h…

I use google docs most of the time because of how it automatically syncs to my phone and computers, but I actually prefer to write in the shitty notepad app in MS10. It just keeps everything simple and helps me to not get distracted. I don't like to use anything "fancy" otherwise I spend ages playin…

I don't work with webtoons or really post on there, but I do read a lot of webtoons, so I kinda know what is and isn't allowed. Curse words are normally fine, but I think they prefer it if you censor the word a bit. Nudity is normally fine as well as long as it isn't too sexual. Shirtless scenes ar…

The Webtoon vertical format is my personal favourite format for reading comics, but I've noticed that some comics don't fully take advantage of the benefits? (Obviously, there's nothing wrong with that--it's their comic and they're free to do whatever they want with it--I just want to make that clea…

I normally stick to anime-style comics, but I do love the 80s Sci-fi aesthetic, monsters AND labyrinths, so I would give this a try :grinning: And for comics that are non-anime style with textures, I have read quite a few. The first one that pops into my head is Lore Olympus, and then there's Always Human w…

This really got me thinking, so I went and wrote down the feelings behind my current WIP, as well as some works of fiction that I really enjoyed, and I think I've figured out (and named) some of the "THAT emotion"s that always get me. There's the feeling of "if only", where the story makes you th…

yeah there's actually a few different teams of translators! you can read it translated on mangadex https://mangadex.org/title/42236/heaven-official-s-blessing or go to suibian subs/scans' discord server to get the link to download their translations

Basically the title. Have you ever read a comic where the art is so good that you wouldn't even care if the story sucked? Or even the other way around, a story so good that you don't care about the art? (I just want to say that I'm not dismissing any of the following comic creator's writing skills…

my favourite artist is par0llel [image] [image] [image] shes only a year older than me but shes so much better 0_0

A good piece of advice I've learnt is to introduce your character in a scene that forces them to make a decision. Their reaction and decision introduces the audience to their personality. And the decision they have to make can introduce the themes and style of the overall story. It can also aid in f…

So last night I had a dream with plot and characters and stuff (this is how I get a lot of my story ideas lol) but when I woke up, I ended up forgetting most of it. So now I'm looking for comics/novels/anime that are similar so I can fill the hole that it left in my heart. Basically the plot was …

this dude's design is absolutely ridiculous, but i think that was done on purpose: [image] my favourite designs are normally the villains. theyre always so weird lol: [image] [image] it makes me laugh thinking of these people just walking around irl

Not a comic or show (but it does have an anime and comic adaptation) but Mo Dao Zu Shi has this chapter with a horrible rape scene. Throughout the novel, the relationship between the characters had been very slow burn, and because of China's laws on homosexuality being depicted in media, I didn't ex…

thanks for the feedback, I'll keep all of that in mind next time

Hi this is my first post on here so yay. I hope I'm doing this right ⚆ᗝ⚆ Anyway, I posted a comic/oneshot recently and I plan to do more comics in the future, so I was hoping I could get some critique from some people with more experience than me?? I don't care about the story, so I don't need any f…

I like it when artists put character sheets in their comics, because I've read so many comics that remembering the names and personality of every single character is difficult. That being said, putting all of the character sheets at the start might not be the best idea because people have no interes…

I like killing off the main characters, the ones that you think are really essential to the plot so they'll never die. But the problem is that most of my characters are queer and there's the whole "bury your gays" trope (where someone creates a gay character and then kills them off) so I don't think…

I listen to ambient noise sometimes to get a feel of the atmosphere and stuff For example, if I'm drawing a rain scene, I'll listen to rain sounds or if I'm drawing a scene that takes place at a cafe or something I'll listen to cafe ambience. Here's my playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=…

I use MediBang Paint Pro, which I really recommend since its free and its similar to FireAlpaca but it has some settings and stuff that are helpful for making comics (especially manga style). I also use PaintStorm Studio for painting but its not free.
