Hello good people of Tapastic. Aspie Gamer here. Creator of the shoujo influenced slice of life comic Life of an Aspie. Having just finished Chapter 3: Manga 101, I can now make this thread. As the little red tag suggests, this is a collaboration, but since I don't have funds to pay anyone with, the best I can do is give you and your art a shout-out should you choose to participate in this collaboration. About a week ago, I had LoaA reviewed in the startup webcomic magazine StArt Faire (which I'm sure some of you here are familiar with. Overall, I had a fairly solid review by them. If I had to guess the grade, I think it would be a C-? Anyway, one bit stuck out to me, important words/phrases highlighted below.
I guess I never really though much about it until it was pointed out by the reviewer above, but now that I'm three chapters in and close to hitting 100 subs as of this post, I reckon it was only a matter of time until flaws in my craft started being pointed out which is fine with me since I don't catch every art flow or even writing flaw. (and I'm more of a writer than an artist btw). That said, I've decided to hold a contest to determine who gets to contribute art wise to the bonus chapter that in light of the StArt Faire review, I have decided to create to help flesh out the other characters in my comic a bit. If you are serious about this and you feel your art would be a match with the genre that LoaA falls under, then feel free to draw a picture of Susan Graham (or any of the other characters) in your style and post it here on this thread. No more than 10 entries. One per person.
Show off the best you've got to offer. Once all the spots have been filled up, I will create a voting form which I will post a link to here when we cross that bridge. Everyone is free to vote. (If you are participating, DO NOT vote for your own drawing, that's cheating!) Once a week has passed (or less depending on how quickly this goes,), I will tally up the votes and the two participants with the two highest amount of votes will be given the privilege of drawing the two respective stories in Ch. 3.5, each about 12-13 pages (there's going to be a third short story, but I've already given it to someone). Contest winners, PM me your e-mail accounts so that I can e-mail you the script for your portion of Chapter 3.5. Now if something happens and you can't draw your portion of Ch. 3.5, I'll give it to the person with the next highest amount of votes (starting with the third place winner). Otherwise, everybody whether they win or not will get a shout-out on my wall and on both of my social media accounts. Twitter and Instagram respectively.
