I see a lot of "high stakes fantasy" comics with lots of wars and big plots and etc, but im looking for more short stories, a fantasy comic that is more contained, with low stakes or at least that is not about a big mission, prophecy or chosen one you know?

I hope you understand what i mean, english is not my native language so sorry for any mistakes

Skimmed through my libraries on Tapas and Webtoons and only came up with a couple that I think fit the criteria pretty well, they're a bit more rare than I expected too  I have other shorter or lower stakes stories, but typically in other genres lol.

Unfamiliar is a comic about a witch that moves to a new town but finds that her house is haunted by several ghosts. She makes friends with the other residents of the town and they all help each other to resolve their various issues. It's very cute, low stakes, and chill. It has strong emotional moments here and there but I think it qualifies:

Petrichor barely qualifies, but the author has it tagged as Fantasy so I'll include it here. It's about a girl who takes care of the stray cats in her neightborhood, and then one day finds an extra dimensional cafe where the cats are people and hang out. She's having trouble in her day-to-day life, so the cats that she's helped decide that it's time to take care of her now. It's, again, very cute and relatively low stakes (i haven't read all of this one, but have watched the author work on it quite a bit on Twitch). It's very much more slice of life with talking animals than "Fantasy", though.

Lastly, I'll plug my own one-shot from 2019 which Ithink fits the criteria as well, TreasureHUNT!! It's a short story with relatively low stakes focused on a local scale and the main character's self growth~

Check my grounded coming-of-age comic MAOR, it's not really short though. (warning: very anthro)

It's a novel with some fantasy elements and a VERY toned-down form of magic that borders on "might not actually be magic at all,", but I'm gonna recommend my own work:

Oh jeez, most of the story's I am subscribed to are very "lively" :sweat_02:
but I've found some that I think are more contained I think they are

Yes!! High stakes are nice and all but I've always been drawn to more personal and intimate conflicts, stuff on a smaller scale.

This one's slice-of-life about a witch.

This one's a series of short stories centered around a boy and his life in the mountains surrounded by interesting creatures great and small.

This one is a cozy comic about a group of friends traveling through the woods on a quest. Okay, even though they are on a quest, the atmosphere is very chill and doesn't feel like a pressure cooker.

Then I've got two human x orc romance comics in my library to rec

And while this one is technically sci-fi, it's pretty fanciful. And it's complete!

wooooah
they all look so cool and with nice concepts, it will take a while but i will definitely read
thank you <3

I don't know if it's wrong to reccomend comics that aren't on Taptastic but...

Some of my favourites are Leppu's "Tiger Tiger", which has some higher stakes but is largely about relationships!

I guess I might also reccomend my own comic on Tapas, it's a slice of life comic with elements of the supernatural, which are (so far) pretty subtle!
In The Woods Somewhere2

This is my current project, a Fantasy/Mystery/Comedy webcomic.
There are some intense scenes, but the plot itself is pretty wholesome.

i LOVE slice of life fantasy

Does supernatural counts?

Well mine's more a PG-13 cartoony feel about some kid investigating a strange mystery regarding odd static on tv. Yup pretty low key for now with a few monster fight scenes

Reading these at the moment, definitely recommend them both! This first one is about a crowned prince who escapes for a night and something terrible may or may not have happened, causing panic! That was a terrible description, the comic is super cute so far and keeps me wondering.

This second one is rather new, so I don't know how "big plot" it is, but it has a great cast of characters so far, beautiful art, and I can tell the story is going to be top tier.

If you can handle the BL part, technically a vampire fantasy slice of life. My future stories go more fantasy

This is up to you, but my debut series is an Anthology of Short stories! Now it's in the prologue arc, but next month there will be a Valentine themed arc (And two months later it will be an easter one, then the Halloween one and in the end christmass).

Feel free to check out

Enjoy your stay, have a nice day!

This one starts out making you THINK the stakes are really high, but actually the story is a lot more contained when you get into it. I think it fits pretty well.

Mine is a webcomic of small stand-alone comics highlighting the characters and lore from my novel, maybe that could be something for you? :green_heart:

It's definitely not short, and there is a larger overall mission but there is definitely no prophecy or chosen-one. There is a reason the main character is the one involved, but it's not because of some larger destiny thing.
