No -- those are actual prices people pay to hire creators if they're actually trying to pay someone for their work. Those are actually very underpriced in this industry.
But on to the problem at hand.
Personally, I wouldn't take up this offer because there's not enough information for me to go off of. When people get interested in offers, something has to reel them in. That includes, but NOT limited to:
- Type of genre
- Type of characters
- Type of story
- How Long is this story? Is this more work than it's work (AKA, are you trying to overwork me for an unpaid job/little money?)
- How will I benefit from this collab? Will I be paid? Will it be a partnership? Will I have fun?
Those are just a few I would want to know, and what most people would want to know, if they want to be "interested"
But you didn't do that. Moreover, I don't know anything about you in order to get interested. You haven't posted any examples of your work, you haven't joined the forum discussions. You're a very new member -- you haven't even joined for an hour.
And sometimes, people are just more inclined to work with people that have provided a presences in the forums and in social media. By demonstrating work, demonstrating how they bring different ideas to the creative process, and other different ways. Sometimes, they eve work with friends, specifically friends they will have fun with working and can trust to bring just as much to the table as they do.
It would kinda do much better to look over what you're trying to go for and re-write a new post asking exactly what you want from an artist AND what you will bring along too.
After all -- just as you expect a lot from the artist, an artist will (and should) expect a lot from you.
Think about these things for a bit.
Do You Want to Hire Someone?
Is this going to be a paid collaboration where you pay the artist? How much are you willing to offer? Can you meet their standards in payment?
Do You Want a Partnership?
Ok, so if you can't pay someone, there's this. So you want a partner in creating this story? Do you want someone to input details, ideas, character development and help you shape this story? Will they own part of the story as their own if they help?
What Do you Want to Get Outta This?
If this is unpaid and not a partnership, what do you want from the artist? If this is just strictly for fun and you don't want to make money, how long will this story be? Will you make the experience from for the artist?
If this IS trying to get money, and this IS unpaid, how will the artist get profit? Will they get royalties for the wok they've done? Will you do a trade of skills for how long they help you (AKA, if they draw 10 pages for your story, you write 10 pages for their story)?
Also think about how long you want this to be. Is this a simple 10-page comic or a 1000 -page epic?
Because lemme tell you -- from experience -- a GREAT deal of people will not help you make that 1000 = page epic, especially if you're trying to get help for free. That just will not happen. And if it does happen, you're either friends with this person, they own a great deal of this epic, or they actually believe this will be a hit (and are extremely gullible).
Right now -- it's just better to introduce yourself as a creator, actually post more in the forums, and then try again. If you're worried about someone stealing your idea on the forums -- don't. You're around a lot of seasoned writers and artists, both professional and hobbyists, who have 100 or so ideas they haven't even touched yet. Most of them already know ideas are a dime a dozen, and that execution is where it truly matters.
I'd actually like to get to know a person a bit more and see what they're capable of.
(And while I'm here -- although I wrote this with artists in mind, people looking for writers ought to understand this as well.)
